Tw: suicide and assisted suicide mentioned through dialogue, self harm scars.
"Luna died?" Newt asked, looking pained, and River nodded.
"I didn't have the heart to get angry at Allison, because it really wasn't her fault. And to be honest, I really felt bad for Allison, especially considering she liked Luna and stuff. But I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for my sister." River admitted. "She, uh..." He looked away, seemingly trying to remember something from it, and attempted to snap his fingers several times. "She threatened to kill the guy in charge by shoving a gun to his head."
"You won't kill me, Emily," Janson said with a sadistic grin, not flinching at the gun to his head.
"Oh yeah? Try me," Emily spat, and turned the safety off.
"Okay! Okay! I'll turn it off," Janson said with a sudden panic.
"But he shucked up the agreement because he was a shank." River said, and bit his lip, "There was only me, Alec, Allison, B1, B2 and C1 left. Janson said that if one of us died, the rest of us could live. And that took a very long time."
"That wasn't part of the fucking plan, you rat faced pieced of shit!"
"I should blow your fucking brains out!"
"Emily, no! You kill him, and your brother and his friends will be in far worse situation. Now do as I say and put. The gun. Down."
"Dr Paige, please-"
"Quiet, Teresa! Subject B nine, do as I say and put. The gun. Down."
Emily dropped the gun, half in fear for her brother, and half anger at the situation that he had been forced to have been in.
She turned to Paige, fear winning her internal battle. "Fine. I dropped it. Now please let him go."
River tipped his head up, "In the end, it was Allison."
"I'm doing it. I have nothing left to live for. Luna's dead. My head is more messed up than the scars on my wrists. I want to die. You'd be doing me a fucking favor."
"I... grieved Luna, and Kay, and Allison, for a long time. We were finally sent back to the facility when we all deemed well enough to go. When we weren't throwing things around and having group or solo suicide attempts. When I remember finally feeling okay. Then we were taken back. Emily hugged me so hard. She could tell I didn't wanna talk about it. She knew something was wrong, and the disappearances was something she hurriedly tried to make sure no one asked me about. Then she met Alec, and she was surprised to see how much he understood me, maybe even more than her. She was happy with that."
"Now, Chuck," River looked up and met Chuck's eyes, and Chuck looked a little puzzled, and Thomas shifted, putting his hand on Chuck's shoulder. He had wondered if Chuck should be hearing this, but realised that River had glossed over the worst details, like his mental health and the testing. "You asked about the watch. The watch I'm wearing right now, is Alec's. It says D nine on it, not A eleven. He asked for it, after he admitted he... was... that he liked me. In a romantic way."
Newt shifted beside Thomas, and Thomas glanced at him, and saw that Newt was staring rather pointedly at the wall.
Thomas nudged him, and Newt looked at him and smiled briefly, then went back to staring at the wall, his cheeks bright red.
"You... like guys?" Minho asked, looking a little confused. He muttered under his breath to Newt, "I should've guessed, look at the old guy sweaters."
Newt tried to muffle his laughter, but River's lips curled, trying not to laugh as well.
