TW: Mentions of kidnapping, murder of children, child labor and a tiger attack
"I must say... Lord Randall's absence is quite a boon for us," Ciel sighed.
"For once I agree with you," Y/N grumbled in agreement.
"Please, I'm begging you!" Abberline was shouting at the trio. "If the Commissioner finds out about this-"
"It would actually be better if you didn't leave him to find out," Ciel said as he leaned on his walking stick.
"Yes, he would be irate," Y/N muttered.
"First of all," Abberline continued shouting, pointing towards the open window. "How in the world did you manage to get into the third floor file room?" Sebastian had jumped to open it, then jumped up twice more to set his master and Y/N inside the file room. Abberline turned to Y/N for that explanation but she just glanced away. Unlike Ciel, she wasn't used to having to brush off the Inspector. In fact, a part of her wanted to spend the afternoon chatting away with him like she used to at the Pub.
"Well, Sebastian?" Ciel asked, ignoring the Inspector.
"Of the children we have been asked to investigate, not a one has been found dead," Sebastian told them as he flipped through files.
"We're leaving as soon as you've copied it all down," Ciel instructed his butler.
"Yes, sir."
"Perhaps we ought to borrow the photographs just in case?" Ciel asked.
"Yes, that would be a good idea. Knowing what the kids look like would be helpful." Y/N agreed before Sebastian began to place photographs of the children in her hands.
"That would be most troublesome!" Abberline interjected nervously. Y/N hated making his job harder for him, but a manga drawing of a person and an actual photograph of them were drastically different.
"If their loss is discovered, feel free to say we made off with them," Ciel suggested carelessly.
"I'll get even more of a scolding!" Abberline protested.
"He's got a point, Randall doesn't exactly like us," Y/N concurred.
"That's an understatement, he detests us," Ciel smirked. "Erm, Master Underline?"
"It's Abberline," The Inspector corrected him. Abberline turned to Y/N once more who just shrugged. Ciel just waved it off as Sebastian handed him a group of files.
"You've been a great help today," Ciel rambled nonchalantly, flicking his hand lazily towards his butler. Sebastian nodded and walked over to Abberline, taking his hand and pressing something into it.
"Your cooperation is much appreciated," The Butler smiled to him. As the demon withdrew his hand Y/N could see four coins in the Inspector's palm. Abberline noticed it as well and looked purely shocked and disgusted.
"I require nothing of the sort!" Abberline shouted as he grabbed Sebastian's gloved hand and slammed the coins back into it. "I simply thought it would be best to employ any methods necessary to get to the bottom of this matter quickly. This is just-"
"Any methods necessary, hm?" Ciel interrupted the Inspector. "Your flexibility shows promise. Besides, you talked to him a good bit back in your street days, didn't you? Y/N?"
"Yes, I did. He provided me with plenty of information." Y/N felt guilty saying it, but she had discreetly stolen information from Abberline once or twice when she worked in the streets. He tended to accidentally let tidbits of information slip in conversation but Y/N always pretended not to notice.
