MAJOR MANGA SPOILERS HINTED AT DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOU HAVEN'T READ VOLUME 26 AND A MAJOR PLOT POINT IS SPOILED I HAVE WARNED YOU (having said that if you cannot read the mangas for whatever reason no shame but some of this may be a little confusing. If you are currently reading the manga, please read volume 26 if you can and haven't already)

It had been two days since the 'funeral' and mystical 'revival' of Sebastian Michaelis, and Y/N was starting to wish he had stayed dead. Parts of the manor were a wreck, doors had been busted down and chopped to bits, and the manor grounds had been thoroughly thrashed by the storm's heavy rain and winds. Y/N was surprised whole trees hadn't been uprooted from the raging monsoon that had provided the painfully appropriate atmosphere for the Phantomhive Manor Murders. But now that the dark clouds had finally dissipated, it was up to the servants to deal with the aftermath.

Finny had been over the moon to finally be able to go outside again, Bard was thankful Earl Grey was no longer present to clear out the whole kitchen, Mey-Rin was back to her clumsy, cheerful self, Snake was adjusting to his new life and Sebastian and Y/N were at each other's throats as they had been from day one. Today's reason behind the best friends' standoffish behaviors towards each other was the fact that Y/N had genuinely missed Sebastian, who in turn had missed her as well, but neither would ever admit it. While it was true they had been together the whole time with Sebastian disguised as 'Jeremy Rathbone', he had to keep that facade and Y/N had the rough end of things. While 'Jeremy' got to play detective, Y/N had to play 'Sebastian' and try to follow each of her orders perfectly while also pretending to grieve and while juggling everything else that had once been Sebastian's responsibility. And while the other servants did help, Y/N still felt like she had failed to meet expectations.

Sebastian knew he had placed a great deal of responsibility and duty on the young Lady, but he also knew that it would wear her down. And Phantomhive servants didn't get many breaks, Y/n even less with her double life. It was simple really, Sebastian could handle the pressure, Y/N not so much. She had been exhausted for so long, Ciel was even worried. Usually she would tease him every chance she got, but lately she had been too tired. Ciel had tried to convince her to take a day off and maybe sleep in and go shopping with Lizzie, but she refused saying she had work to do. It had gotten to the point where Y/N was starting to look like she had when she had been swamped with case consultations from the Yard. And when even Snake, who didn't know her all that well noticed she was off, Ciel and Sebastian got to work scheming. They would force her to take a day off if they needed to.

That familiar feeling of getting a suspicious amount of sleep crept up through Y/N's veins. She woke from her slumber with an uneasy jolt, the sun had risen rather high in the sky for her to just be waking up. The Lady threw her sheets off and snatched up the clock sitting on her nightstand. It read 11:30. "Shit!" Y/N hissed as she set the clock down and scrambled out of bed. Sebastian was sure to kill her for being this late. Y/N could practically hear the talking to she would be getting as she threw off her nightgown and scrambled into her uniform. It wasn't until she was checking her appearance in her mirror that she realized something. Sebastian woke her up every morning. That was part of his job. And Sebastian never neglected his duties as Master Butler of the Phantomhive family. "That jerk," Y/N sighed as she flopped down onto her chair. He had let her sleep in on purpose. Both he and Ciel had expressed slight concern about how Y/N had been fairing recently, telling her she needed to take some time for herself.

Since it was clear that today was supposed to be a day off for Y/N, she had discarded her uniform and settled for a much more comfortable outfit. She might as well be cozy while she told off Ciel and Sebastian for letting her slack off. She was just as much of a servant as Mey-Rin or Bard, both of which were still working a full schedule. She shouldn't be given special treatment just because she was technically a Lady.
