A hand was placed firmly on his shoulder, and he didn't know whose.
His legs felt frail and weak with each trembling step that he took across the hard wooden floor, and in the next moment, he slumped onto the couch.
Muted voices were lost against the loud roar that were his thoughts, and it took him a while to notice that his friends were speaking to him.
"-ppened?"
"-you ok?"
He felt a shake, and then sound came flooding to his ears.
"-min!"
"Armin!"
Eren shouted and snapped his fingers directly in front of the blonde's face.
Coming out of shock, Armin's clouded eyes focused onto the brunette's fingers, and he remembered the pain.
His face contorted into one of anguish and Eren put his arm around the crying boy.
"What happened?" Mikasa calmly asked once again as she kept a steady eye on the blonde.
Armin sniffled and blinked away tears, refusing to look at the girl.
"I yelled at Y/n over something incredibly stupid. I got angry at her for no good reason."
"What did you say?" Eren asked warily as he looked at his friend.
"I accused her of sleeping around with Jean," he said very quietly out of pure shame.
He felt Eren's hold on him loosen, until the brunette's arm was completely off.
"Armin..." Eren said in what sounded to be disappointment, and what the blonde would later find out to be guilt.
"Oh my God," Mikasa had breathed out. Her eyes had gone wide, wider than they had ever been.
"I know," the blonde said as he covered his face.
"Armin," Mikasa had called out to the boy quietly. Wiping his eyes, Armin looked up to see Mikasa with a serious expression on her face.
"Jean and I have been dating for a couple of months in secret."
And that was when Armin knew that he had royally screwed up.

The blonde awoke in his darkened room, with that memory from weeks ago replaying in his tired mind.
He rubbed at his eyes as he picked up his phone from his nightstand.
He had slept through multiple phone calls from his grandpa, and Hitch as well.
He first called back his grandfather to see if the man was ok.
"Hello, little one. Are you hungry?" Mr. Arlert had asked out of concern and Armin groggily responded.
"Not really," he said as he yawned out and felt absolutely nothing.
He heard his grandpa sigh out on the other side before the man lectured him light-heartedly.
"Armin, I know you haven't eaten. You've slept half the day away! I want you to get up and take a walk outside, or, hell! Even go out into the living room and play those video games of yours! Just--just get out of that room, before I kick you out myself!" The man threatened lightly. "I'll be home soon. I'm bringing you a burger."
