"What'd I miss?"
Y/n looked away from the sky and turned, finding that Ymir now stood in front of her on the porch, the girl's piercing eyes looking at her in question.
"Uh..."
She didn't even know how to begin to answer that.
"You missed Eren and Porco beating the shit out of each other," Y/n said. Her voice lilted a bit on the sardonic side, yet she felt disturbed over what had happened.
Frowning, Ymir tilted her head and gave the girl a bewildered look.
"Eh? You serious?"
Y/n nodded and Ymir's brows went up in surprise. She crossed her arms and stood there, holding onto the present that she had brought.
"Oh shit...you good?" Ymir asked awkwardly and Y/n stayed silent for a bit, her lip dipping down. Her chest ached.
"Historia was wondering where you were," she offered instead and Ymir sighed.
"Fuck. Is she still in there?"
"Yup."
Groaning, Ymir trudged across the porch and went for the door.
"She's probably pissed at me for being late."
Y/n shook her head and stood up, waving Ymir off. "You're good. There's only one thing on anyone's mind right now," she said bitterly. She opened the door and motioned for Ymir to come in.
Right before Ymir went off to find Historia, the girl behind her lightly tapped her shoulder.
"Here," Y/n said as she picked up a bag that had been resting off to the side of the hallway. She held it out for Ymir, who only frowned and stared at it.
"What's this?" The tall girl questioned.
"Ho-ho-ho, bitch, I'm your secret Santa," Y/n said with as little energy as possible. What she would give for a nice nap.
Ymir gaped down at the present before snatching it out of surprise
"You're fucking kidding," she gasped out and laughed as she peered down at the festive bag. "That must have sucked for you huh?" Ymir looked at Y/n with raised brows, an amused grin playing on her lips.
"Merry crimmus and all that jazz," Y/n said, shifting back to her previous sullen mood. She jabbed her thumbs towards the door. "I'll be outside."
Right after the door clicked shut, Ymir was quick to cast aside the red tissue paper and let it fall to the floor.
She hadn't expected much from Secret Santa. She fully expected to receive a ten dollar gift card at most, but this certainly exceeded her expectations.
Inside the bag was a brand new leatherback sketchbook, along with a slim case of high quality pencils and a cute little three-pack of erasers that looked like sushi.
Ymir's eyes went wide as she pulled out the sketchbook from the gift bag. She admired the brown leather, running her fingers across its smooth surface before stopping at the band that held the book closed. She unstrapped the stretchy fabric and opened the book up to the first page. Strangely enough, an orange sticky note was posted inside.
"This is so that you can leave me alone during AP Lit and draw your boo instead <3"
And as Ymir looked down at Y/n's familiar penmanship, her eyes trailing across the words over and over again, she felt guilt for once. Her eyes narrowed and she closed the book shut, gripping onto it tight as she spun around and flung the front door open.
