"Morning, Y/n," Armin greeted with a wave.

"Morning Armin. Happy V-day," the girl said with a ghost of a smile.

"Happy Valentine's," the blonde responded softly. He took a moment to study his friend, fixating on how the girl's eyes seemed dull.

He could always tell when Y/n was upset.

Hearing the gentle lilt in her voice and seeing how she would carry her words with something so subtle yet so discernable underneath them.

Reading her came natural to him at that point.

Armin sat himself across Y/n and set his bag down. He then shifted to look at the girl and frowned.

"You ok?"

A quiver, he saw.

Y/n let her stiff smile fade and she exhaled lightly. She kept down the anguish in her chest and mumbled tired words.

"Porco's still a bit upset with me. I can't blame him."

Armin's blue eyes fell shut and he breathed out lightly, letting the guilt fester up deep in his core. He felt as if he deserved to be tortured with shame.

"I'm so sorry," he half whispered out, and he meant it with every fiber of his being. Three days of his friend moping around because of him dealing with a matter that he should have stayed out of. He truly did feel bad.

"It's fine," Y/n sighed out dejectedly as she held in her hands the small gift she had brought in for Porco. She still had yet to find her boyfriend. She figured he was avoiding her, which she understood completely.

"Here,"

Y/n brought herself to look up. She stared blankly at Armin's outstretched hand, blue eyes waiting on her to make a move.

"Take this."

The blonde gently reached out to hold Y/n's hand in his own and placed something small on the palm before closing it up.

Tilting her head, Y/n lifted her fingers and looked down.

Resting on her hand was a tiny, mint-colored heart candy gram. 'BFF' it said in the classic red font and Y/n smiled brightly.

"Ok, this is pretty cute," she giggled lightly.

The girl beamed at Armin, her spirits suddenly lifting.

"Thank you, Min!"

She smiled as she felt a warmth bloom in her chest over the small thing. It wasn't much, but it was sweet and simple, symbolic. And it was from Armin, her most cherished companion.

She carefully held onto the heart and moved to grab her backpack.

"Here's your V-Day gift," she said to the boy before she fished for a small, transparent cloth bag full of mini Kit Kats, the assortment bundled up and tied neatly under a frilly lace ribbon.

Armin grinned wide and flushed, finding the gift to be incredibly cute and perfect from someone who he wholeheartedly believed to be cute and perfect. It was a gift that screamed of Y/n—delicate, and sweet, and thoughtful, all in one.

He happily accepted it.

"My favorites! Thank you."

"You're welcome, Min."

"You always get carried away with presentation," he mused with a small chuckle as he held the bag in his hands, running his fingers along the soft lace string that tied it together. He almost didn't want to open it and ruin how it looked.
