Eren was quick to hop off of his bed and shrug on his sweater.
He flew down his stairs and collected his house keys from the kitchen table, shoving them crudely into his pocket before he moved into the living room and waved at Jean and Mikasa.
Jean scowled from his place on the couch, shooting Eren a look of annoyance for interrupting his quality time with Mikasa.
"No, Eren, you can't sit with us. I remember last time you ended up eating all of our snacks, you jerk-"
"Jean, Jean—shut the fuck up for a quick sec. Mikasa," Eren turned to face the ravenette, "Armin called."
The girl quirked an eyebrow as she looked at the brunette out of surprise.
"He did?"
She knew the blonde hadn't been too keen on hanging out with Eren as of late, so for him to reach out to the green-eyed menace struck her as being strange.
"Yeah. He's upset right now."
"Why? What happened?"
"He confessed to Y/n."
Mikasa flew to the edge of her seat and Jean's jaw dropped.
"No fucking way," Jean gasped out.
Eren nodded and started to move towards the door.
"Yeah. I'm gonna walk over to him and meet him halfway, he's coming over."
Turning off the TV, Mikasa stood up with a firm resolve and exchanged a glance with her boyfriend.
"We'll come, too," she said and Jean didn't argue.
The teens headed off and about 10 minutes into their walk, they turned a corner and saw the blonde in the distance.
"Armin!" Eren exclaimed before sprinting towards the blonde at full speed. "I'm coming, buddy!"
The brunette tackled the unprepared boy and nearly knocked him over, Armin struggling for a few moments to catch his breath before he smiled at his friend.
"Jeez, I'm not dying," he quietly chuckled out as he hugged Eren back.
"I don't care. I know you're sad."
Armin sniffled at that and Eren held onto him tighter.
"I'm here for you. Mikasa and Jean, too."
Mikasa and Jean came up to him and they all enveloped the blonde in a warm hug, bringing him much comfort as he began to slightly calm down.
"What happened?" Mikasa asked on their walk back, keeping a steady hand on the blonde's shoulder.
"I told her how I felt. That I loved her," he said with a soft voice. "I feel relieved but," fresh tears poured out of his ocean blues and he looked away from them, "it came at a cost. I told her I needed space from her, I--I just ruined our friendship," his voice broke. "She probably hates me now and I don't blame her."
"Armin, no. Y/n's incapable of hating you. You're her bestie, I'm sure she'll understand and respect you for wanting some distance between the two of you," Eren said and Mikasa agreed.
"Don't worry about her right now, she'll be fine. And I'm sure she'd want you to feel better. Just focus on yourself and how you're going to get through this," Mikasa advised and they all agreed.
Once arriving at the house, they all settled onto the couch, nestling into the assortment of blankets that Mikasa and Eren had pulled out from their linen closet.
"Sorry about intruding on your Valentine's Day plans," Armin apologized meekly as he held a warm mug of hot chocolate in his hands.
Jean waved him off, his arm resting on the space behind where Mikasa sat.
