((Kaneki x Reader)) Broken Down

Gone

I woke up the next morning and headed downstairs. Kaneki wasn't in bed with me, so I went to go ask Touka where he was. I saw her cleaning mugs. "Hey Touka!" She looked at me.

"What is it?" She set the mug down.

"Where's Kaneki?" I stepped down the last step and leaned over the counter.

Touka shrugged. "I don't know, I haven't seen him all morning."

I nodded a bit and headed for the stairs. "Ok, thanks."

"Sure thing." I heard Touka say.

Once I got back up to the room I opened the door and picked up my phone. I texted Kaneki and asked him where he was. I then heard a little jingle that came from behind me. I turned around and saw Kaneki's phone on the table. "He forgot it." I whispered to myself.

All of a sudden I heard screaming downstairs, so I rushed down there to see what was up.

Anteiku was now empty with the sign flipped to close. I quickly dashed upstairs and looked at every room. All of them were empty, except for Hinami's. There she was sleeping peacefully. I sighed out in frustration and closed the door. I ran back to my room. I grabbed my jacket, put pants on, grabbed my shoulder bag, and my phone. I wrote a note to Hinami saying to stay inside and don't leave. I rushed back downstairs and went out the door.

I don't know where I was going, but I ran. It was early morning on a Monday, and no one was up yet. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw two CCG agents fighting a ghoul.

One had noticed me and yelled. "Get away from here!" The other one kept fending it off. I ran over to my car and started it up. I drove of towards the highway. I pulled out my phone and texted Touka.

Me: Where are you?!?

Touka: Stay at Anteiku, don't look for us.

Me:Why??

Me: Hey!!!

Me: Touka?!?

I threw my phone down and quickly turned around. Fearing for Hinami's safety. I parked the car outside Anteiku and stopped dead in my tracks. I saw a shadow inside the restaurant. I cautiously walked over and opened the door a bit. Peeping through the crack, I saw a boy standing there. He had dirty blonde hair. He was sitting down looking out the window. He stood up and opened the blinds, revealing my newly parked car. He stopped and shot his head towards the door, seeing me. "Hi." He said.

I stepped in and closed the door behind me. "H-hello." I stuttered out.

"I'm sorry, I let myself in. It's just I saw a ghoul out there and I got nervous, so I fled to the nearest place. Did you also?"

"No, I work here." It wasn't a full lie.

"Oh! You don't mind if I sit here, do you?"

"Not at all."

"Thank you. By the way, my name is Hide." He smiled.

Hide... Hide... I hear that name somewhere before... But where? "Your welcome, and my name is (Y/N)."

He motioned his hand to across the table. "Ok (Y/N), come sit with me. Let's talk."

"S-sure." I stuttered out again. I walked over slowly and sat down. Looking at the young man. He seem to be my age.

"I won't be here long, so don't worry." He sighed sadly and looked out the window again. "It's actually a coincidence to. This is the place where my friend met a girl, but the next day he ended up in the hospital. I haven't seen him much lately to. I mean he went to college a few times, but suddenly stopped coming. I still saw him here though."

"Oh, I'm sorry. What was your friends name?"

"Kaneki."

I froze. He didn't mean... Crap. Know I remember. Hide is Kaneki's best friend. He mentioned him a few times.

"You know him right? I mean he works here after all."

"Um, no sorry, we probably have different shifts."

"Oh. Ok." The next thing Hide did, was stand up. He headed towards the door one last time and smiled at me. "Have a good day."

"Uh. You too." Once Hide left, I closed the blinds and went over to lock the door. I heard footsteps and saw Hinami climbing down the stairs. "Hey Hinami, good morning."

"Where is everyone?" She rubbed her eye.

"I don't know."

"Oh. They must have gone out."

"Yeah probably."

"Don't worry, they'll be back soon."

"I hope so."
