Daryl's POV
She was a fighter, a real survivor. She slipped from my grasp and ended up being taken from me within a flash. You never know when your last moments are with someone, it's important to cherish those moments. I just wish I had the chance to say goodbye.
We spent the last days figuring out what we were planning to do. Everyone voted in seeing about this town that Aaron was goin on about. Someplace called 'Alexandria.' I wasn't for it, but I wasn't gonna get up and leave.
At this point, I didn't really care what happened, I just wanted Y/N with me, here, in my arms, in my grasp. She was the only thing that kept me goin, now, I'm still pushin. For her.
Rick and the others gathered up their belongings and one by one emptied out of the room we were held up in. All that was left was Rick and I. He looked over to me as I sat in the same corner as I had been ever since we got here. He walked over and slid down the wall sitting next to me. He was soon by my side as I stared down at the rough and worn floorboards.
"She loves you Daryl."
"Loved." I said in a low, gruff tone. Rick looked to me in shock but his expression relaxed when he understood where I was coming from.
"No, she still does, and she'll never stop."
I stood up and snatched my crossbow from the floor, slinging it over my shoulder. "Don't act like she's still here. She's dead." I said, barely getting out the last part.
"Daryl-"
"She's gone Rick! And if you're too blind to see that you need to get it through that thick skull of yours! She ain't. Comin'. Back." I said pausing afterwards. He looked at me with remorse, but I shook it off and walked out the door. I don't need anyone's sympathy, I want her back.

We soon approached the gates of Alexandria and Aaron walked up to bet met with a woman with shoulder length, dull blonde hair.
"It's okay, they're friends." He said to her. She motioned for someone to open the gates and as she did they rolled open.
I looked down to the grass to see somethin moving in the tall brush. A opossum snuck out, but not fast enough I sent an arrow through its side and watched as the last bit of life escaped it. I picked it up and saw a man with curly brown hair look at me with a horrified expression on his face.
"Brought dinner." I uttered. He shook his head and headed back behind the gates.
We all made our way through as the gates shut behind us.
"If you're planning on staying I'm gonna need you to hand over your weapons." The lady with short hair said.
"We don't know if we're stayin." Rick snapped at her.
"I-it's okay." Aaron stepped in and motioned us with his hand to follow him. I stayed back a bit and wandered around. Everyone else was occupied in the tour so I figured now would be as good a time as any to get lost for a while.
The people looked as though they've never seen a walker before. Like the world never ended. There were kids runnin around, playin like they didn't have a care in the world. I saw a pond in the center of the area and made my way over to a bench and sat down. The town seemed as though everything was held up tight, but I didn't trust it for a second.

I followed Rick and Carl to their house and sat on the front porch. Eventually Carl ran out of the house and caught up with the others outside. They were all cleaned up and in normal clothing. It was kinda weird to be honest.
Just when I thought I'd seen it all, low and behold here comes officer friendly walkin out of his home in clean clothing.
"Welcome back friendly." He glared at me before looking out to the road and seeing everyone make their way down the street.
"You comin?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders and looked up at him.
"Nah, go on." I said. He nodded and jogged down the road to catch up with the others.
I found myself sitting alone on the porch, left to my own thoughts. Although there was lots to think about, I still couldn't get Y/N out of my head. It was like she was engraved into my memory. I couldn't forget her face, the way she laughed, her smile, nothing was forgettable about that girl. She had a vibe that no matter what situation it was, it was always comforting to be in her presence. It hurt like hell knowing she wasn't here anymore. She was the only one I ever truly fell for.
I was just fortunate enough that she returned the love and fell for a screw up like me. I wasn't perfect, far from it. But she saw past my problems and saw me for who I was.
I will always miss her. She is, was, and will always be the one I long for.
