Chapter 1-11 ~Stirring Secrets~

Night Raven College - Kitchen

The cafeteria was almost empty by the time the four 1st-year students arrived. Students mostly had gone back to their dorms; others lingered around. As for them, they have another job to settle first.

Entering the kitchen of the cafeteria, a familiar green-haired young man could be seen sorting up the place, unaware of the approaching group by the entrance.

"Excuse us~" Ace announced their arrival, alerting the earlier young man that they knew was Trey Clover, a 3rd-year student from Heartslabyul.

"Oh, welcome back," the senior smiled at them as he helped them carry the extra buckets and placed them onto the kitchen counters, "I see you've picked up a bunch. Good job."

The compliment somehow made them slightly proud. After all, they did pick up more than 300. A little compliment ought to give them more energy and motivation.

"You've said it! With these many chestnuts, we can make one gigantic tart~!" Grim grinned happily as he imagined it. Trey laughed in response before he reminded them of their next task.

"I think I'd mentioned that you'll be doing most of the work. So, do your best," he encouraged them.

"All of this huh?"

The 1st-years look at the amount of the chestnuts in the buckets when realization began to click in their head. 

"Right, we have to peel ALL of them..." Himemiya mumbled while Deuce lets out a sigh, "I feel like we're going to be here for a long time."

"Well, it's necessary to prepare beforehand when it comes to making dessert," Trey commented, and somehow, that made a certain auburn-haired young man annoyed.

"Yeah, yeah, we get it!" Ace exclaimed as he rolled his sleeves and faced the buckets full of chestnuts with fiery determination, "Let's just get this over with!"

The group proceeded with their first task of peeling the chestnuts.

While Deuce and Grim were able to use their magic to peel the chestnuts' skin off, Himemiya and Ace had to do them by hand. And when it comes to that, they were the slowest among the four.

Even so, Ace refused to accept the fact; determined to prove that even without magic, he could do as good as the other two.

"Hey, check it out, Hime-chi~"

The young woman looked up to see a proud-looking Ace holding out a perfectly peeled-off chestnut in his hand.

"Not bad right? It's not easy peeling off a perfectly cleaned chestnut, don't you think?"

The smug look on his face says it all and Himemiya couldn't help but want to poke fun at him.

"Hmm, not bad, Ace. However," mimicking Ace's proudful expression, the brunette showed off a couple more of perfectly peeled chestnuts in her hands, "I'm pretty much good at this as you are~"

And his expression was immediately wiped off of his face, "...Gee, way to ruin my parade."

"Well, this is a surprise," Trey's voice caught the two magicless students' attention when he approached their counter.
