I have a story, a total band nerd story that not everyone would understand.
My name is Grace and I'm currently about to be a freshman in high school. I'm going to talk about my past, and later on my life right now. I play the flute and I'm not as good as all of the people in my grade, well, in my opinion.
My dream is to always have a connection with my flute, and never give it up even if I'm not very supported for it. I want to me more than just another person in band, and be the best (like no one ever waaaas....). Anyways, here is my background on how my flute and I came to be.
It all started when I was in elementary, and my oldest brother Mark started to play the trumpet in sixth grade in the school's band. I seriously hated that thing, he always annoyed me while practicing, and he practiced... a lot.
Time passed and I got used to him playing, and then I admired how much he love his trumpet. Later on, I wanted to be exactly like him. Finally after four years, I got the choice in sixth grade to start playing an musical instrument.
My first choice was the trumpet, to be exactly like my brother. He opposed me to be playing the trumpet, cause he thought it would be weird for his little sister to play the trumpet. Then I decided to play the clarinet, like my other brother who is a year older than me, and again, he opposed it because he didn't want me to be like him.
My final choice was the flute, even though it didn't really show my tomboy side.
At first I didn't love the flute, I just saw it as a way to be with my friends that were in band. I never saw myself to be the best, and didn't really thought I ever would, but then I decided to take band seriously and have fun with it. So, I ended up practicing for hours everyday just for fun, and over time I became good, I even had a rival which helped me become better. I then saw myself become like my brother and had an attachment towards my flute and towards band.
Now that you know my background about band, you are ready to hear my 'adventure'.
~
Btw, I'll talk about marching band later on in the story.
Based on (and is) my experiences.
