I walked to the bus stop, lugging my huge one gallon water jug filled halfway with water and ice. Why you may ask?
Band camp.
This week and next week is going to be May band camp and I have no idea what to expect.
As I walked into the bus, I got a questioning look from the bus driver.
"Probably the water jug..." I mumbled as I went to my seat.
The time in the bus for me was spent thinking about band camp today.
What if the upperclassmen do something to us? Like the nightmare I had last night. They chased us into a bus and turned into zombies!!
Okay, I have to stop over thinking this.
Yeah it won't be easy, but it's not like I'm going to die right?
~
As soon as I saw my friends when I got off the bus, I ran over to them.
"Ready for band camp?" I asked them.
"Nope," Niko said. "But it's not like we have a choice." He finished with a laugh.
"Same." I simply replied and went back into my own world as we walked into the school.
I spent the rest of the school day in my own world thinking of what scenarios could happen. What will happen in band camp? Well, since it is just may band camp, it won't be hard right?
The last bell rang and I snapped out of my own world and back to reality. I weaved through the crowd and got to my locker. I grabbed my stuff and a change of clothes for band camp.
A blue bag got caught in the corner of my eye and I saw Anthony waiting for me.
"Ello!" I say as I closed my locker.
"Ready?" Anthony asked. I nodded and we skipped to the band room looking like idiots. Once we dropped off our backpacks and everything, we separated to go into the locker rooms. As I was in the locker room, all of the halls were already emptied and the buses to take the regular kids home left.
I went to the farthest corner of the locker room and changed into shorts and my orange shirt whilst trying to ignore the smell of perfume mixed with sweat.
Once I finished changing I got my clothes and went back into band room to get my snack. I grabbed my granola bar and went out into the hall to eat.
"Hey Niko!" I said as I slid down the wall to sit with everyone else.
"Hola!" He replied taking a bite out of a muffin.
"How much time to we have until the buses come to take us to DHS?" I ask.
He looked at his watch and held up ten fingers when he ate his last bite. I laughed quietly and nodded.
I forgot about every senseless worry and just decided to have a good mindset.
~
I got off the second bus with everyone else, clutching my flute case and my water jug.
"Where is everyone..." I said to the people around me. We looked around squinting our eyes because of the bright sun, and saw a door open on the side of the school. I went with a few others to explore what was inside that door.
A clarinet dude spoke up, "I'm pretty sure this is the wrong door, but I feel like exploring. Anyone else?". I looked around and saw that no one volunteered to go with him.
Hm...I feel like exploring. "I shall go with you!" I said and walked through the door and into the dark room with only one light on.
The dude and I walked through the room looking at everything in there, hearing the voices of the people who were too scared to come in. Right in the middle of the dark room was a mirror, and I walked cautiously toward it for no apparent reason. Looking closely, I saw that it was shattered, and red paint is on it.
I facepalmed, "Bro! This is the drama room!" I yelled to the clarinet dude. Oh gosh I can act like a guy at times.
I heard him mutter something, but we still looked through the drama storage room. I suddenly saw something that caught my eye.
"Dude! (Yes I say dude at my moments) I remember that prop!" I say running towards the familiar cone shaped stairs. There was a black one and a white one, it was a prop that our marching band used a few years ago.
Before I could do something with it, I heard Niko's voice. "Grace! You know this is the wrong door right? We found out how to go to the band hall!" He yelled loud enough so I could here.
I sighed and walked away from my mini adventure with a clarinet dude (wait, that sounds wrong) in the drama storage room.
"Well, that was fun right?" The clarinet dude said to me and I nodded to him. "By the way, my name is Michael." He said as we walked through the correct door behind everyone else."
"Cool, my name is Grace." I replied.
