I woke up at 4:30 am that morning, the sun wasn't up yet and it was still very well dark. Once again, I let the darkness sit with me.

Today is your last performance.

I know.

Get up.

I can't.

Why?

I don't know.

I stopped talking to myself and had let myself cry. It never felt so real before. Almost exactly three months ago, I had no idea how to take a step and now today is state. My feelings came in like a wave, no, a tsunami. I was drowning in joy yet sorrow. This marching show gave me everything I needed and today will be the last day I will perform it.

I have to get up.

I took a deep breath and got up from my bed and flicked on the light switch. I brushed out my messy bed hair and pulled it into a bun, spraying it with water then with hairspray. Fixing all the wisps, a grabbed about ten bobby pins and stuck them everywhere to keep it down until I get back to school. Five minutes later I was downstairs making myself some bacon and had made a fruit salad.

I looked at my schedule that was on the table.

I sighed and looked at the clock as I took a bite from my bacon. 5am. Damn, gotta hurry up. I stuffed all my bacon in my mouth and brought my fruit salad upstairs. I stripped off my pajamas and got into my show shirt and compression shorts. After getting my shoes and socks on, I got my flute and backpack filled everything I needed. No water jug today.

"Wake up!" I yelled as I knocked door my parents door. After some shuffling, my mom came out with her toothbrush in her mouth.

"Ten minutes." She said to the best of her ability with the toothbrush in her mouth.

"Kay."

I got my iPad from my room and decided to go on instagram. Only one new photo since the last time I checked. "I missed you Alamodome." It was from a junior in our band. I remember the Alamodome. Although I've never been there, my brother was there two years ago at state and I saw it from the live webcast.

Hmm, I wonder if I will be on camera...

"Ready?" My mom yelled from her room.

"Physically yes."
