Last Day of Seventh Grade

It was the last day of seventh grade and I entered the school empty handed. We were told to no longer bring our instruments to school since we don't have anything to rehearse for. As I walked through the cafeteria with no flute case in hand, I still felt like a part of me has been lost.

I took a deep breath and sat down with my friends, letting it go as I looked around. I said hi to them and started to space out into my own world.

"Goodbye eighth graders..." I muttered to myself making sure no one else heard. "Goodbye Jason..."

I sighed and wondered if I should say goodbye to my eighth grader friends or Jason. I fought against it and decided to do that later. I started to tune in with my friends and heard my name.

"What?" I asked looking between Anthony and Niko.

"You were spacing out again." Niko replied

"Oh..." I simply said.

"I was about to tell him something about field day last week." Anthony said to me.

"Oh, what about it?" I said getting into the conversation.

"On how we threw water balloons at Jason and his friends." Anthony replied. I laughed, I remember when that happened. Every year on field day the whole school has this giant water balloon fight, and Anthony and I saved some balloon and a while after the water balloon fight we threw some at Jason and Anthony's sister who was near by.

As soon as they turned to see who threw it, Anthony and I turned to each other and started to talk as if we never threw them. It was hilarious yet pretty immature.

There is thirty minutes until the last bell rings and everyone was outside roaming the halls signing each others yearbooks. I carried my yearbook rushing towards Niko who was signing someone's yearbook.

"I did it." I told him happy of what I did.

"You got Jason to sign your yearbook?" He asked and I nodded. After I got the courage to ask him to sign my yearbook, he did and I was relieved.

"Yep, time to get over him." I stated. It was time for me to get over him, since he would be going to high school and I would have to wait a whole year to see him again, and it would seem like forever if I didn't get over him soon.

Time passed and it was time to head onto the buses. As I pushed through the crowd with my friends, we were outside the doors and were looking at the whiteboard to see where our buses were. As I looked to the side of the whiteboard I saw Jason.

Jason caught my eye and waved at me, I waved back. He and I kept eye contact while I was walking away to keep up with my friends. Jason smiled at me while I smiled back.

He can sure make it hard to get over him.

Then we both turned our separate ways.
