FLETCHER
In my entire dating life, I have never been so nervous as I am right now following Eden over to the table to meet her son for the first time. I mean, that nervousness didn’t stop me from glancing down and enjoying the tight yoga pants that squeeze against her ass, but I’m only human. She turns around right as we get there to give me one more smile. I can tell she’s a little nervous too. This is a pretty big step, but we’ve been seeing each other for a few weeks and I know it is about time this happens.
“Hey, Fletch!”
“Hi, Toni, welcome to your work on your day off.”
“We were at the park and figured this was the best place for lunch.”
“Well, Damon does make sure to keep everything the way mom used to do it.”
“That’s why I love this place, deep down inside it is run by a bunch of mama’s boys.”
“Nothing wrong with that. Proud mama’s boy, here.”
“We all love Miss Lydia too,” Carly adds. “I hate that she isn’t here as much, but Abram loves that your brother puts bacon on the mac and cheese.”
“Ahh yes, my mom still cringes about that, but it is pretty popular with customers of all ages. Speaking of customers of all ages, who are our little guests here? I know Abram and...Delilah, right?” Both kids nod their heads and then I look over at Joseph. “Hmm, I’m not sure I’ve met you before. Would you be the Joseph that I always hear about from your mom?”
He gets a big smile on her face and even sits up a little higher in the booth. “You know my mom?”
“I do. In fact, would you believe that I knew your mom since we were little kids, even younger than you are now”
“What?” He looks at Eden with wide eyes, “Mommy, you used to be even younger than me?”
The adults laugh and Eden puts her arm around her son’s shoulders, “Yes, a very, very long time ago.”
I put my hand out across the table, “My name is Fletcher, but my friends call me Fletch. Except for your mom, she still calls me Fletcher.”
He wastes no time shaking my hand and introducing himself back, “My name is Joseph, but my friends call me Joey. You can call me Joey.”
“Does that mean I can be your friend?”
“If you’re friends with my mommy you can be my friend too.”
“I’d like that, little man.” I take a quick look around at the rest of the table, “Did Damon get drinks for all of you or does anybody still need something?”
Toni nods, “He did get everything for us already, Fletch, thank you.”
“Not a problem. Let me know if you need anything else. Hey Eden, can I talk to you for a second.”
“Yeah, of course.” She stands up, but looks back at her son, “You okay, Joseph?”
“Yep, we’re going to play tic tac toe.”
Eden gives him a quick kiss on the top of the head, “Alright, I’ll be back soon.’
Once we’re around the corner and out of view of the corner booth, I press Eden up against the wall and kiss her. She wraps her arms around my neck and meets me halfway. I love kissing Eden. She’s so passionate and responsive to my touch. After getting a good kiss in, I slowly pull back and she’s left with a huge smile on her face.
