EDEN

“Come on, Fletcher, I don’t want to play these games. I don’t need to have to be blindfolded,” I giggle.

“Nope, I put a lot of work into this transformation so we’re going the whole big reveal.”

Fletcher has one hand placed gently on my back and the other covering my eyes as we take the stairs one step at a time up to our new primary bedroom. I told him that his bedroom was fine just the way it was, but he insisted on making it less bachelor and more couple.

We have been so busy between the reception hall construction, his schedules at the bar, and working on the moving process that it took a month before the day finally arrived that we are officially moving in together. Lydia changed her normal Sunday breakfast to a Sunday moving day, so all the guys are going to help us move boxes from my mom and Carl’s place to Fletcher’s place…well, I guess it is our place now.

We don’t have much that needs to be moved over, in reality, Fletcher and I could have done it ourselves, but nothing in this family happens without every person involved. We did take advantage of the additional set of hands and purchased some furniture for the living room, a new dining room table, and new window coverings. Currently, the Mason Brothers are waiting outside in the front yard so we could have this reveal ourselves. My mom and Carl are on their way with Joey for his own bedroom reveal.

“Come on, Fletcher, just let me see!” I whine.

He chuckles in my ear, “Alright, are you ready?”

“I’ve been ready for ten minutes,” I huff.

“You’re one impatient lady.”

“And you’re stuck with me.” I can’t see his face, but I know he’s smiling from ear to ear. This is the first step of our forever after.

“Alright, here we go. 3, 2, 1…” He lifts his hand off my eyes and I gasp and cover my mouth with my hands.

“Holy shit, Fletcher. This doesn’t even look like the same place.”

“So is that a good thing?”

I playfully smack his arm, “Of course, it is a good thing! Wait, is that a king-size bed?”

“Well, I needed a new mattress anyway. I figured you wouldn’t mind.”

I look around and can’t help but to touch everything. Gone are the white walls with vinyl horizontal blinds on the windows. Instead, the room is painted in a shade of sage green with gray curtains that have the same color sage in a decorative pattern.

The bed is no longer just a frame and box spring. It is a full sleigh-style bed built from dark wood. The plain bedding has been replaced with a full sheet and comforter set, not to mention the pillows. I laugh at the decorative pillows.

“Really? Extra pillows?”

“Those weren’t my idea. The lady at the department store said the more pillows the better.”

The bed had two side tables that match the bed and there is also a new dresser in the corner and the TV is now mounted on the wall. On the floor is a nice shag-style carpet that adds a nice homey feel to the room.

“This is perfect, Fletcher. I can’t believe you changed it so much.”

“I cannot tell a lie, my mom helped a lot. She picked most of the stuff out. I just used my credit card and manual labor painting.” I go over to him and jump into his arms. He catches me easily and we fall onto the bed together, our lips interlocked. ‘You realize my brothers are sitting outside, right?”
