I leaned against the wall trying to take in the information. Should I step in front of the door and let them know I know? Or do I pretend this isn't happening?
"And I have absolutely no say in this?" I heard Nick argue.
"Well Nick, I told you there's a chance it's yours I've hardly called it Nick junior. Even if it is yours, which there is a ten percent chance or something, it has nothing to do with you. I have made my decision. I only told you because I need you to drive me there because the closest place I could get an appointment is Bolton." She explained.
"And that's it? All just forgotten about?" Nick frustrated voice continued.
I shuffled nervously on my feet. I really couldn't believe this was happening. "Yes, Nick. What else do you want from me? I have been making myself sick all day at the thought of this baby. I want it out of me now." She replied.
I really couldn't listen to anymore but I couldn't go in there like the old Liv. I had to keep the rest of this night going smoothly or else it would get worse.
I stepped in the doorway and I forced a shock look on my face. "Oh hey, is everything okay?" I asked.
Liars.
"Yeah, I was just getting a drink." Beth couldn't even look at me as she replied.
"I came to give you some money to get to London tomorrow." Nick shuffled on his feet and took out his wallet.
I grabbed the oven gloves from the counter and opened the oven door. "I'm not going to London." I replied.
Beth walked out the kitchen, obviously not being able to handle her lie.
"What do you mean you aren't going to London? You were having dinner with Katherine and Mick, it's your birthday." He looked back at me with an angry expression. He has some nerve being angry with me.
I took the peppers out the oven and sat them on the stove. "Dinner with Katherine and Mick." I pointed to the perfectly cooked dinner.
Nick looked at me confused, "what? Are they here?"
"Yeah with mum and dad and Arabella." I replied.
"Arabella?"
"Jack's mum." I said, dryly. I didn't have anything else to say to him.
I used the oven gloves to lift the dish off the stove and I walked out the kitchen and back in to the living room. I sat it down on the middle of the table. "I'll go grab the salad." Jack got up and walked in to the kitchen.
I had to try and forget about what I just heard and get this dinner out the way.
Jack placed the salad in the middle of the table and we sat down next to one another at the table.
"Space for one more?" I heard Nick's voice from behind me in the doorway and I rolled my eyes. He couldn't just let me have one night?
"Nick, you're here!" My mum said full of excitement opposite me.
I looked at Jack as he rested his hand on my thigh. He gave me a look as if to ask if I was okay and I leaned in to his ear, "I'll tell you later." I whispered.
"Olivia? Is there space for me?" Nick asked again.
"We only made enough food for the people invited." I didn't even look at him when I replied.
"I'll just have some salad then." I heard his foot steps walk out the living room.
He returned a few seconds later with a bowl and he began scooping some salad in to it.
