"Oh, sex or gay sex?" Benji said, clearly annoyed with my mom "Stop!" I said "Look, that was awkward for all of us, but we are in a serious relationship. She wouldn't be acting like this if she'd caught you having sex with a girl!" benji looked between me and my mom
"Why is everyone yelling" My little brother, Adrian, walked in "It's nothing, mijo" My mom said and paused for a moment "Victor just knows that he's not allowed to have friends over without us-" she said and Benji interrupted "He's not my friend. He's my boyfriend!" He exclaimed and a shocked expression appeared on my mom's face "Benji" I said and we all stared at each other for a moment
"Benjis...your boyfriend" Adrian asked "You need to go" my mom gave him her signature 'you're gonna be in so much trouble if you don't do what I asked you to' voice. Benji shot a glare at me "yes, Adrian, this is benji...my boyfriend" I told him "Victor Salazar. He is way too young to know about that" my mom yelled "wait so, you're gay? Like SpongeBob" he asked "weird comparison, but yes, I'm gay..like SpongeBob" he smiled at me and nodded
I took in how accepting Adrian was compared to my mom. He accepted me without a second thought...
"Come on, mijo. Let's get you back in bed..you two stay here" Benji and I looked at each other as my mom walked off with My little brother "I'm sorry" Benji said "I probably shouldn't have done that"
"It's okay, Benji. He was gonna find out eventually. I understand the frustration you probably felt in the moment, but sometimes you gotta just learn to control it, you know" he held his hands "yeah, I know. She's just been calling me just a friend and I- im not your friend. I'm your boyfriend"
"Sit down, both of you" my mom said walking back into the room
Me and benji both sat down on the couch "what the hell were you two thinking" she asked again "Mrs. Salazar, I am so sorry for saying what I said in front of Adrian. It's just really frustrating to hear you not referring to me as...your know, victors boyfriend. It's hard enough having to come out and it's even harder not being able to fully like the person I wanna be with because someone doesn't fully accept it" Benji said, clearly directing it towards my mom. I placed a comforting hand on his thigh in an attempt to calm down the anger I knew was just boiling inside him "Are you trying to call me homophobic" she asked "wh- no. I-I was just saying that I think you could be a little more accepting of victor" he stuttered out "Benji, you are really pushing my buttons today." My mom told him and he looked down at the ground
"Mom, Benji has a point." She rolled her eyes "okay, just because I don't fully accept you or my son does not mean you can just have full-on sex in my house and out victor to his little brother" he nodded "I know that..that's why I just apologized. All I was saying is that, you've put your family through so much and the least you could do is just support your own kids" he said and my mom glared at him "what the hell do you know about what I did" she asked, anger laced in her tone "enough to know that you almost broke your entire family apart because of a stupid decision you decided to make."
