Ch. 1 The pain of losing you

A/N Besides the video  give a listen to My immortal by Evanescence that also fits. And until Wei Ying has returned to life it will be in Lan Zhan's POV. When he returns to life I will be alternating POVs. Not really edited. Hope you enjoy.

Lan Zhan POV

What will I do? I lost him and it's because I didnt stand by him like I should have. And I watched him shatter and willingly fall off a cliff. I tried to save him. I did catch him. But then Jiang Wanyin came to finish him. He struck out his sword it hit the rock near Wei Ying and my hand. And Wei Ying seeing this pulled away and I lost my grip. And he fell. I cried out his name and he fell with a small smile upon his face. I felt my heart break into thousands of pieces. I've heard people say follow your heart. I've never listened I've always followed my mind and the rules. But Wei Ying always followed his heart. So I wonder if your heart is in thousands of pieces which shard do you follow? I know I will search for his body. That much was given. I also know that his one time sworn brother Jiang Wanyin will also search for it. But I must see if their was anything left behind of importance to Wei Ying. The feeling that something must be there led me away from Nevernight to the Burial grounds.

Later

It took me days to reach it. Even though I also flew on Bichen some of the time. I look around. Its haunting how much is still the same from the last time I was here when he was still alive. I go inside where he lived within Demon residing. I nearly col
collapse everything looks the same. It's as if he left to come back. It's still messy but it was home to him. My heart hurts. I feel a tear or two force it's way out and down my cheeks. Wei Ying it's like you're still here. Then my ears pick up a sound. Its faint but I hear it. I go closer to the stone tab that he used for a bed. Then the sound becomes more clear. It's the sound of sobbing. A child sobbing. I look behind the stone tab and there is a small child.

I feel something embrace my leg. I look down and there is a small child clutching onto my leg. He is crying. What do I do?! I look around for his parents hoping that they would come take and calm there child. I have no experience comforting children of any age. No one seems to be coming! What do I do?! I look back down at the small boy on my leg that's crying. I can feel people staring. "Why is the boy crying?" "Did his bàba(dad) scold him?" Who is he calling his bàba? There are more murmers and assumptions. After some more it becomes clear that they are indeed calling me this boy's bàba. I'm still a teen why do I have a child suddenly? "Lan Zhan!" I hear a cheerful voice call out. I look and I see Wei Ying coming towards me from a stand. He's smiling but it isnt one of his dazzling blinding smiles. It doesnt quite meet his eyes. I havent seen one of those dazzling bright smiles in a long time. I feel a pang in my heart. "Lan Zhan how are you? It's been awhile." He says cheerfully. I look at him then I look down at the boy. "The child?" If it upset him that I didnt answer his question he didnt show it. "Oh that's A Yuan. Adorable isn't he? Sorry I know you dont like to be touched but it's hard to explain that to him. He's only about 3." He says still with that same smile on his face. The smile is still a bit happy. He is happy talking about the boy. "Whose?" I ask. I wish I was better at communicating like my Gege (older brother) but I never was. I didn't used to care. But that was before Wei Ying came into my life like hurricane. "Oh he's mine." He says with a smile. What?! "A Yuan come here." He calls the boy. The boy er A Yuan let's go of me and smiles. "Māmā." A Yuan cries out happily and attaches himself himself to Wei Ying's leg. I feel the corners of my mouth twitch upward. "A Yuan I told you I'm a man. I would be Bàba." "Māmā." He cries out again. This is cute. "At least call me Gege. Ge ge." Wei Ying says again. "Māmā hungry." He calls out. And Wei Ying shakes his head. "I guess it cant be helped. To A Yuan I'm Māmā. Well let's get something to eat. Lan Zhan come eat with us." What? "Mmnn?" "Please I insist. It's my treat." He says smiling at me. "Mmmnn." I say hoping he would understand. He keeps smiling and leads the way somewhere for us to eat.
