The mirror stood against the far wall of the bathroom, I stood against the cupboards opposite to get the best overall view of my body under the light given by the bulb. From the afar, I seemed similar to my old self. I was still skinny, with long hair, and pale skin. I took a step closer to the mirror and looked at my face.
It wasn't my face though. One eye belonged to me, whilst my cheeks were now more prominent and framed by silky, straight black hair unlike my softer brown hair. I ran my hands over this new face- the skin was smoother, along with a permanently moisturized feel. I couldn't resist running my finger tips over the ridges of the bite marks that scarred my neck, even they seemed to give off a feel of malice and burning hatred.
I took an overall look at the girl in the mirror, her eyebrows were slightly dipped as she inspected every inch of me, and for a moment it felt like she wasn't me.
I reached a hand down to slightly lift up the black tank I was wearing, the stomach was toned and had a sharper edge to define its curves and dips.
A knock from outside the bathroom door sounded. There was a time where I would have jumped, or called out 'who's there', but I was more alert now, and I knew every move Kierin made in this house; nt only when he knocked on the door.
"Aine, you've been in there quite a while. I was wondering if you were hungry? Maybe we could grab a bite to eat?" There was a short moments silence, "Sorry.. I uh, didn't mean to say it like that."
A small smirk etched it's way onto my face, he was pretty adorable without realising it.
I swung my body around, gripping the handle and swinging the door inwards. Kierin blinked, seemingly dazed by how fast someone can open a door. Wow he's fascinated easily.
"..uh, so that bite to eat then..."
"As long as it's on you," I gave him a flirtatious smile, patted his head and walked past him. I didn't even have to use my sense to feel him walking behind me, I just knew it, like when you know the sun will rise every morning and set every night.
"I was thinking pizza, what about you?" He nodded his head vigorously before mumbling a bunch of different agreeing words.
"Well then, let's go!"
We took his car, upon his insistence, and shortly pulled up at my old favourite pizza place. They served the best pizza around, along with cute deserts.
I skipped over to my booth, waving at Tiffany, a waitress here who usually took my orders and had a chat with me.
Her eyes moved past me, not recognising the old Aine.
Slight embarassment filled me along with sadness; was it going to be like this with everyone from now on?
A menu was slid into my hands, I smiled and looked up through my lashes at Kierin. He just seemed to know when I was sad.
Well duh, we're mates.
Only some of us are..
And you're back. What does that even mean? You're my wolf-
You think you're suddenly stronger, faster, more attractive without there being some kind of payment? You said yourself, I was slipping away. But if I'm the other half of you, what was trying to replace me?
I took a sharp intake of breathe before shaking my head to clear away the bad thoughts. I felt bad when I blocked out my wolf, but I really hadn't changed. I'm me, and always will be.
Kierin was still scouring his menu for something good. I didn't really need to look as I already new which was my favourite.
A few minutes later, a young waitress with 'Denise' labelled on her badge came up beside the table. "Hello, I will be serving you today, are you ready to order?" Her voice was one monotonous drone, as if her attitude didn't give off the fact she didn't want to be here she also checked a text message she recieved right in front of us.
"...uh, I'll have the Spicy Salami pizza please, with extra jalapenos...." Kierin looked towards me, "I'd like the meat feast thanks."
"Yeah, I'll be back when they're done." 'Denise' stalked off with her heeled feet dragging across the tiled floor, not even bothering to ask us what drinks we'd like.
"What a delightful young woman," I muttered under my breathe.
"Here," Kierin said, "what drink do you want? I'll go up and get us some."
I smiled at him, he could be so thoughtful at times. "Just a pepsi please." He got up and left me to stare around the pizza place. It was the same I had always known it to be, the checkered floor, cute red leather boothes- it really gave of a fifties diner feel. I looked towards the window, it was getting dark out and the stars twinkled along with the moon in the sky. Clouds drifted over the moon and I looked down again, out towards the car park.
There was a figure out by the cars. It was of medium height, tall, pale with dark hair-
"Here's your pepsi!" I jumped and swung around to see Kierin. "Woah there, I thought I couldn't sneak up on you anymore."
I looked back out of the window, the car park was empty. Just another freaky kid round the block I guess.
"Thanks," I muttered, and we waited for our drinks to be served.
"Oh my Goddess! I love the sundaes here! Yes I will have desert!" Denise looked at me, possibly considering the need for an exorcist, but wrote down my order anyway. Kierin muttered a quick 'the same as here' and shortly we were presented with mountains of icecream drenched in all kinds of sauces. I was about to take the first scoop when Kierin pulled it away from me.
"Not so fast...." He winked, and just before I could snatch back my ice creamy goodness, the gang (including my human friend, Emmaline) walked through the door holding a folded banner.
"Oh for Chri-"
"Aine," My eyes snapped back towards Kierin, and the guys unfolded the banner to show a massive 'K+A' written in a massive love heart, "will you be my girl friend?"
"Um... Yeah, but what's with all the guys being here?"
Nirosha slapped Alex and Calen over the back of their heads. "These idiots, were meant to supply us all with streamers and shit, but instead managed to turn up with one measly party popper."
I laughed, and Emmaline pulled the string on the tiny confetti explosion. Kierin, who had come to be beside me, held me close against his body with his head in my neck.
"Aine..." He whispered so only I could hear, "I know this might be a lot, but I love you.You don't have to be ready to say it back yet, but I love you and I always have. Werewolf or vamp, I've always loved you. Please just let this start atleast."
I looked up into his eyes, his beautiful sparkling eyes and grinned, "Sure, but only if you'll love me like a human."
