Part 4

(Y/N) POV

You arrive back at work where the BBQ is being held and are greeted by William and his girlfriend who stand and chat with you for a short while before Chase arrives. William looks at Chase confused,
"where's your girl?" He says looking around for his girlfriend who isn't with him,
"she said she'll be here later, it"s her friends birthday party," Chase looked a bit lost on his own but soon took off to go mingle with the rest of his team, as did William, hand in hand with his girlfriend.

You keep looking at your phone checking the time and noticing no notifications. You go to get a drink for yourself and pick up an extra one for Oliver who should've been here over half an hour ago!
You go and find somewhere to sit and send Oliver a message and look up as someone was giving out blankets to sit on, you look around confused and notice there was going to be an outdoor cinema showing Days Of Thunder, you smile and take a blanket.
You check your phone again and nothing,.

"hey, where's Oliver?" You look up to see Alex stood there in front of you, you get startled a bit and jump before looking up at him slowly. He's stood staring at you with his hands in his hoodie pocket.
"I honestly don't know, he said he'd meet me here at 7," you look down at your phone hoping you'd get a notification but to no avail. Alex stood awkwardly for a couple seconds, twisting his body looking around. You look up at him and start smiling at his awkwardness and look back down.
"Come sit down if you want?" You nodded at him for him to sit and pat the space beside you and offer him the second drink, he smiles and takes it from you. You check your phone again and it says he looked at your message two minutes ago,
"wow. And now I've been left on read," you put your phone down and stared into the distance. You sat thinking for a couple minutes and Alex sits in silence looking awkward before talking again.
"Hey, you know earlier when I wasn't myself and you wanted to know why..." you weren't really listening to him and butted in whilst he was talking,
"he isn't coming is he?" You look up at Alex who obviously wished you hadn't asked that,
"honestly... probably not, this is a classic Oliver thing to do. I'm sorry." He sounded upset as he said it. You shake your head disappointed and look down.
"Thanks Alex, but i think I'm just gonna leave now, I'm not in the.." Alex cuts you off before you say anything else, "don't just leave because of him! Listen, I'll sit with you and watch the movie if you want?" You don't look at him and just shake your head,
"i don't want you to waste your time feeling sorry for me, surely you have a girlfriend waiting for you anyways!" You start getting a little agitated and shout a little, immediately regretting it and looking up at him about to apologise. Alex frowns and looks at you before saying quietly,
"my girlfriend broke up with me the day before you arrived, hence why i looked so down and didn't really talk. Also, i came to ask you about coming to this thing first until Oliver barged in and asked you first! We all know what he's like (Y/N), you can do better than him, he doesn't deserve you!" He looks into your eyes after saying this and gives you a shy smile.

You start tearing up until a tear rolls down your face.
"Hey, don't cry," he reaches over to wipe your face but you beat him to it wiping it yourself and start grabbing your things,
"I'm sorry Alex, about your girlfriend," fighting back more tears.
"Honestly, its fine. She didn't like the fact I'm always at work and told me i should stop racing, but racing is my life! So she ended it," he didn't seem too bothered talking about this.
"So, are you staying? Please? Can't leave little lonely me all by myself..." You look at him through teary eyes, dropping your things and chuckle at him giving you puppy eyes, he smiles back at you as tears streamed down your face as you blink. This time Alex was fast enough to wipe them away for you using his hoodie sleeve, you try your best to smile back but just cant.
"Do you want to go get some food and a drink before the movie starts?" Alex stands up ready, you stand up too and go get some food following Alex.
Alex grabs all the food and snacks and you get the drinks and meet back at the bench you were just at, you lay the blanket down and sit. Alex walks off and you wonder where he's gone until he comes back with pillows, you look at him confused and shake your head as he throws down the pillows and gets comfy.
