they were working on a case a gang were smuggling cocaine into Chicago and they had just found out where their hideout is.

the unit was in their cars going down to the warehouse. Hailey and Jay were the first ones to arrive and got into their position behind the warehouse.

Voight's voice came in on the two way "right we go in quiet"

Jay and Hailey slowly went into the warehouse and cleared five rooms they first came across, they continued walking with riffles in the air and they came across two different rooms.

"We split up," Jay said and Hailey agreed. they both walked the separate ways and Jay opened the door and walked in. he slowly walked around going to clear the room not noticing the 6 foot 3 well-built men enter the room behind him

Jay continued to look through the room when the man came up behind jay and took him to the floor completely taking jay off guard. they both rolled on the floor as Jay tried to take the upper hand but was failing due to the man's size difference to him.

the man was able to get jays gun off him and through it, someone then pick up Jay and threw him into a wall knocking him unconscious from knocking his head. the man was then startled by the team's voices coming closer to the rooms so he made a run for it.

he ran out of the room and the same way that Jay and Hailey came in but was cornered by two patrolmen and Kevin who all had their guns in the air.

Voight ran into the room to see jay unconscious bleeding from the head.

"call and ambo" he screamed as he checked for a pulse and luckily it was there and strong.

the team all waited for the ambo to arrive and they all surrounded Jay making sure he had a pulse and that someone had pressure on his head injuries.

after they got Jay to the hospital they rushed him into a bunch of scans. after 3 hours the team and Platt were sat waiting for some kind of news from the doctors.

Hailey had noticed Will walking in and towards them so she stood up causing the others to notice and follow.

"Is he okay," Hailey asks.

"yeh he has a fractured skull which was not bad he also has a bust nose, his left eye if swollen shut and some cracked ribs he will make a recovery and will be back to work in about 4 to 5 weeks duty is expected also," Will said.

"can we see him," Adam asked?

"Yeah, sure he just woke up but I do warn you he is really groggy and quite cranky and has been since he woke up," Will said as they walked to his room.

they walked in to see jay laid on a bed his head wrapped in the bandaged nose and eye swollen and so was his ribs which were noticeable since he had no hospital gown on.

they all had sat down when jay said rubbing his ear. "what you lot doing here" 

"you got hurt we wanted to see if you were okay," Hailey said rubbing his arm.

"I'm perfectly fine," he said rubbing his ear which Hailey caught on as him being tired.

"yeah so a fractured skull isn't being perfectly fine," Voight said.

"I have had worse I'm fine," he said being a grumpy ass who got some sad looks knowing that he is right.

"hey cranky," Hailey said and Jay looked at her

"go to sleep," she said to him.

"I'm fine," he said lying.

the team decided that it would be best to leave the partner alone.

"hey don't lie to me I know you rub your ear and even sometimes your eyes but you can't do that so go to sleep," she said pulling the blanket up to his shoulders.

"I don't wanna sleep" he whined like a toddler.

at that moment Hailey remembered that Jay was terrified of the hospital and sighed "I am not leaving ill be here when you wake up" she said and he nodded closing his eyes and falling asleep.
