Jay Halstead Whump A-Z

G- gallbladder

it all started when at the start of their shift they weren't doing much just tons of paperwork that needed to be completed.

Jay had been looking and acting weird that entire day he had been more pail than normal and more distracted. he got out of his chair and walked into the breakroom clutching his stomach. Hailey got out of her seat and into the breakroom shutting the down behind her which caught Jay's attention.

"what's up," he said 

Hailey didn't say a word just went over to Jay and put her hand on his forehead.

"you have a fever, abdominal and you look like your gonna vomit do you feel like you are going to vomit Jay," she asked.

"what no way," he said lying.

"don't lie to me Halstead," she said.

"yes, I feel sick why," he said.

"come on we are going to the hospital," she said.

"wait what do you mean no," he said.

"what I think you have is either your appendix or it is your gallbladder," she said grabbing his hand and walking out of the district.

as they started to drive to med jay said. "wait aren't people who have that gallbladder obese and are like over 40 and I am neither of them"

"yeah well I know that but that doesn't mean that someone healthy and young cant get it, Jay, it is not impossible," Hailey said as she parked outside of med.

they walked inside and they got the person at the front desk to page Will. once Will came over he motioned us to follow him and into a room. they got Jay into a bunch of tests. until about an hour later and Jay was in a hospital gown on the bed whining about how he wanted to go home when Conor and Will came back into the room.

"Today you are lucky that Hailey brought you into the Halstead because you have gallstones which are very rare with you being very young and healthy," Conor said to him.

"so what is the next step," Hailey said who was sitting on the hospital bed.

"well we would normally take the gallstone out in some way but because it is so bad we have to take out your gallbladder with surgery which I recommend you get," Will said and Jay nodded and said yes.

they both went out of the room and then nurses came into the room and took jay out and into emergency surgery. as Hailey was waiting she decided to call the unit and explain what was going on with Jay and they said they would be there soon. 

a couple of hours later and the unit and Platt were all sitting in the waiting room when Conor walked into the room which caught the unit's attention.

"so surgery went amazing no problems at all" Conor said.

"can we see him," Voight said.

"yes he is awake and Will is with him but I do warn you he is on some powerful medication that I am saying is he is loopy as hell," Conor said walking towards the room and opening the door to see Jay trying to get out of bed and Will trying to stop him.

"Halstead," Platt said catching both brothers' attention.

"Platt thank go you are here get this ginger off of me I want to go home please," he said pushing Will away once again.

"that isn't gonna happen ok you have just had a major surgery just sit down for a minute please," Hailey said getting him so laid back down.

"I thought you were on my side," he said looking confused.

"I am don't worry but you just need to heal ok and that means no moving for a bit ok," she said and he nodded.

they all sat down as jay was being who knows what he was doing just being a pain in the ass.

"hey jay stop playing with your IV," Kim said.

"what if I don't want to," he said to her.

"I don't care what you want and don't want don't play with your iv," she said sternly and he pouted like a toddler and looked at Hailey.

"don't look at me," she said putting her hands up in surrender.

about 20 minutes everyone but Hailey went home to get some rest and leave Jay to sleep since he was struggling to keep his eyes open.

Hailey lay on the hospital bed and Jay snuggled up to her falling asleep.

"don't leave me" he whispered.

"I wouldn't dare I'm not leaving," Hailey said as he fell asleep
