(Y/n) made her way into the small town. The hood she wore, pulled firmly over her head. Not just to guard her from the rain that seemed to fall incessantly from the sky, but also to hide her features from the townsfolk. To hide the marks and the tattoos that covered her skin. The oversized coat that hung from her shoulders, ensuring that what lay beneath was kept out of sight, as she clung firmly to the old army duffle bag that was slung over her shoulder.
The town appeared to be like all the others that she had set foot into over the years. Yet as much as she tried to stay away from civilisation, from people, sometimes even she had to make her way into the towns. And there was something about this town in particular that had called to her. It perhaps the name of the place, "Oddity". That spoke to her the most.
In this world, some would probably described as a mutant, given the way she looked. But in the worlds that she came from, she was described as something much worse. An accursed creature. Feared by not only her mother's people. But also, those of her father. For she was a Nephalem. A divine being. The product of a mating between a demon and angel. An ethereal immortal that possessed the powers and abilities of both of her parents, yet none of their weaknesses. And given that, most demons and angels considered her as a threat. Considered her formidable potential as something that could not only damage heaven, but also hell. And so, she had been banished. Sent away to live for eternity with the mortals. Always fearing that someone would be sent after her. That a heavenly or hellish bounty hunter would come to claim her head. So, she had learned to prefer her own company. Leaned to lay low. To avoid as best she could the mortals. To avoid being seen for what she truly was. But at that moment, as she stepped foot into the town boundary of "Oddity", she thought that she could sense something. That she could hear a voice that spoke quietly to her. A voice that told her to stay there.
Slowly (Y/n) made her way down one of the quiet streets. Her eyes falling on the lights of the small diner that lay across the way. At least there she would be able to ask about a hotel. A hotel where she would be able to get out of the rain for a while. Where she would be able to get clean and rest, even if only for a short while. For even though she had no need to really sleep, she still like the idea of being able to lay in a bed. Liked the idea of being surrounded by crisp clean sheets. Of being able to sink into a deep comfortable mattress as she closed her eyes and pretended that she was actually human. That she wasn't an oddity.
Carefully she pushed her way into the small restaurant. An older woman looking up as she made her way over to the counter and took a seat on one of the stools, pulling her hood down a little further, as she placed her bag on the seat next to her.
"Well, hi there young?.... Lady? What can I get for you?" The cheery woman enquired, as she tried to get a proper look beneath the cowl. (Y/n) unable to stop herself from chuckling under her breath at the question. For if the woman knew how old she really was, the word 'young' would have been the last word to leave her lips.
In this world, (Y/n) knew that she could be seen as youngish. That to all she appeared, in human terms at least, to possibly be in her thirties. But in truth, she had seen many years pass. She had even watched centuries fly by in the blink of an eye. She had seen the rise and fall of empires. Seen countless wars. Seen generation after generation be born, live and then die. Seen the world grow smaller, through the inventions of humankind. Witnessed some of the greatest events of a number of millennia. Yet none of that showed in her face. There was not a line on her skin to indicate her experiences. Not a wrinkle to tell others what she had been though. So, (Y/n) had grown used to being referred to as young. Treated as though she didn't know as much as those around her. As if she had no real experience of the world...........
"I was just hoping that you would be able to tell me if there was a hotel or something in town." (Y/n) finally replied, as she shook the memories from her mind. The Nephalem allowing the waitress to see her smiling softly, as the woman behind the counter looked her up and down.
"There sure is, honey. Right down at the end of main street, you can't miss it. But you sure that you don't want anything more? If you don't mind me saying, it looks like ya need a good meal or two." The waitress replied, as she took note of the oversized coat that hung from what must have been a much smaller body beneath. (Y/n) again chuckling to herself at the idea of a 'good meal'. That, if once again, the lady only knew the truth, the last thing that she would be saying to her, was that she needed a good meal. The ethereal creature aware that a real meal for her, meant the burning fires of hell, and the screams of damned souls. Meant ambrosia and nectar. None of which were readily available in this world.
"Er......no......I.......I'm fine......thank you, ma'am. Information on the hotel is all I needed." (Y/n) told her. Nodding respectfully, as she got up from the stool and grabbed her bag. Making her way back to the door, and out into the inclement weather.

Charles raced out of cerebro. The doors not able to open fast enough, as his chair sped towards them. The professor growing frustrated that the contraption beneath him wasn't moving as fast as he wanted it too. Wasn't quick enough to get him to the others. Wasn't speedy enough so that he could tell the others that they had to go and find her before she left the town.
"Professor..........?" Orono questioned, as she looked over at the unusually flustered older man that had just made his way into the room. The weather manipulator sure that she had never seen the professor look like that before. Never seen him just stare off into the distance before. As if he were doing his best to keep a connection with someone else's confused mind.
"I've found her........"
"Found who.........?" Logan interrupted. Charles suddenly turning her gaze from something only he seemed to be able to see, to the puzzled mutants around him.
"I have found her. The Nephalem. I have been looking for her for so long. Trying to get a connection to her mind. Trying to talk to her. To get her to talk to me" The professor sort of explained. The others furrowing their brows in bewilderment, as he closed his eyes. As he seemed to fight to keep from losing what he had found.
"I wasn't sure whether she would be able to hear me. Whether she would listen. She is harder to see than mortals and mutants. Harder to reach, given what she is. But now that I have found her, we have to go and see her. We have to bring her here. We have to keep her safe." Charles continued trying to keep the tentative connection between himself and the otherworldly being.
The team couldn't help but just look at one another. They sort of remember the professor saying something about someone that wasn't a mutant but wasn't a human. About someone that was a being that he had been searching for, for most of his life. Someone that he felt would only be safe if she was in the mansion. A woman that should never have been forced into their world in the first place. But that had been some time ago. The others just presuming that he hadn't been able to find this non-mutant, non-human. That cerebro hadn't helped him locate her. Yet now, it seemed as though the professor had actually found something. Or should that be someone. And now, all that the others were interested in, was whether this woman of Charles' was in danger or not. And why she seemed so important to the professor.
"Where is she?" Scott asked, as he got to his feet. Hank and Orono joining him. Closely followed by Logan and Kurt. All of them knowing that if she was this important to the professor, then they had to bring her home.
"She is in a little hotel on the main street of a town called Oddity in Nebraska. But I don't know how long I can keep her there before she runs again. She doesn't trust others and doesn't stay in one place for too long. And given that, I don't know how much longer I can keep my connection with her. But if we can get there. If we can make her see that she will be safe with us, perhaps she will join us." Charles replied, as he turned his chair and made for the door. The others following closely behind him. All hoping that on the way, Charles might explain to them what and who this Nephalem actually was.
