"A what...............?" Bruce asked in disbelief, as he and Clint looked down at the badly injured bird that had been placed with the utmost care on the medical bed.
"A bear, Bruce. A goddamn bear. I swear if it wasn't for Lady Hawk, I would be dead. She not only alerted me, she scared the thing off..........You have to do something for her." Clint explained, as he watched the bird. Her chest barely moving; her eyes firmly closed.
"Clint.........I don't know.............I'm not a vet..............."
"Then we'll get one...........But you must be able to do something until I can get someone to her. You have to keep her alive. Please, Bruce..........." Clint implored, as he grabbed hold of Bruce's collar. Bruce only able to nod, as Clint removed his hands. The doctor pushing his glasses back up his nose and turning his attention to the bloodied bird.

"Well, if there was a bear, its long gone. F.R.I.D.A.Y has been able to find no sign of it." Tony said, as he walked into the room, where Clint was watching a specialist vet, that between he and Bruce the archer had been able to find, deal with Lady Hawk.
"What do you mean 'if' there was a bear? There is no if about it, Stark. There was a bear, you know, big, fuzzy, all teeth and claws, though not the kind with a liking for picnic baskets............" Clint retorted, able to pull his eyes away from the other room for a moment, so that he could glare at the billionaire, before returning his eyes to the vet. The archer finding his heart beating a little quicker, as the doctor pulled his gloves from his hands, and looked over to him.
"Well............?" The archer asked, as he made his way into the room and over to the table.
"Well........." The vet replied.
"I have done all I can. The rest of it is up to her. Though................."
"Though what...............?" Clint interrupted, as the veterinarian drifted off into his thoughts for a moment.
"The hawk.............she is..........unusual. She is not like any other of her species that I have come across. There is something..........different...........Tell me, where did you find her? I believe that she is worthy of study. Perhaps there has been a mutation in the gene pool, in her territory. A necropsy on the bird could provide all sorts of infor.........."
"A what................." Clint interrupted again. The archer starting to feel his blood begin to boil.
"A necropsy.........its an autopsy that we conduct on birds.............."
"Er, doc..........thanks for your help, but I think that you better leave now." Tony said, placing his hand on the vet's shoulder. The billionaire not liking the look in the archer's eyes.
"Just send your bill for all this, to me, okay?" Tony continued, as he grabbed the vet's bag and gently coerced him towards the door; hoping that he could get the guy out of the building before Clint could get to a bow.
"Necropsy.............! Don't you worry, I wouldn't let him touch you like that.........." Clint said, as he reached out and stroked Lady Hawk on the head.
"But you aren't going to die are you. You're too strong.........And I need you.........." The archer continued. As he moved closer to the silent bird. His fingers still caressing her soft feathers.
He knew that this made no sense; the feelings, the connection that he felt with this little feathered creature, made no sense. But there again, did anything in his life make sense. Did anything in any of their lives make sense? This.......all this........what they did, was crazy. He was surrounded by super soldiers, gods and the Hulk. He had fought robots and aliens. Yet into this crazy life, this little creature appears, hurt and calling for help. And he had heeded that call, he had taken care of her, and she, she had helped him when he needed her. Clint having no intention of losing her now. He owed her; he owed her for saving him. And the calmness that she brought with her, the peace that having her with him in his room had brought him, was the only thing that made sense.
"I'll keep an eye on her, Clint. Why don't you go and rest up..........." Bruce said, the archer looking as though he had been awake for days.
"You'll let me know if anything.............."
"Of course.................." Bruce assured. Giving the archer a reassuring pat on the arm. Clint giving Lady Hawk, before reluctantly leaving the room.
>>----------------------------------<<
"Hawk.............." A voice called out. Clint turning to see Lady Hawk hovering above him. His eyes growing wide, as the feathered creature began to change. The feathers turning into skin and hair. The being in front of him, no longer a bird, but a woman. A woman that was more beautiful than anything that he had ever seen. Her eyes looking deep into his, as she moved closer. The breath catching in his throat, as she reached up and placed her hand on his cheek.
"Lady................"
"I need you, my Hawk. I need you to save me. Fate has brought you to me. I feel a connection with you that I have never felt with another. I know that you are the one that can help me. The one that I have been waiting so long for. The one that can break my curse. Please, my hawk........please............." The woman said. Clint feeling his heart pound, as she moved closer. The archer wrapping his arms around her form and pulling her to him, as her lips ghosted over his.
"We are destined, you and I...........hawks mate for life............." She added, before she kissed him.................
>>------------------------------<<
Clint shot up, his eyes wide and mind spinning. The dream.......the dream. Was it............could it be.............real? He had fallen asleep on one of the sofas in the common room. He hadn't meant to, but something, something had lulled him to sleep. A soft voice.......the voice of the woman from his vision had told him to rest. Had told him that she needed him to be strong. The archer suddenly getting to his feet and racing out of the room. His feet leading him to where he had left Lady Hawk. The archer needing to know that she was still well, that she was still alive.
