On the way to the area, the two didn't talk to eachother. Obanai kept staring at the back of Y/N's head, however, which really pissed the Kinoe off. He wanted to turn around and tell the older to look at anything but him, but he just couldn't bring himself to. Much as he had disrespected the pillar's opinion, he didn't want to disrespect someone ranked higher than him entirely. He merely defended himself in that case, and even that made him feel bad. Of course, he didn't regret it when he said it and he would never regret it as a matter of fact, but he felt like he had been too rude. The (h/c)ette sighed audibly, seeing as his crow started getting closer to the ground, landing at the entrance to a village. He approached it and crouched in front of it before talking to it. "Is this an empty village, an unharmed village or a village under attack, Raven?" The boy said, offering the crow his palm to jump on. "Under attack." The crow said calmly, with a weirdly deep voice compared to all the other crows the Kinoe had heard speak before, leaving him stunned. Now that he thought about it, that was the first time he had heard his crow speak. "How can it be that everything about you is weird?" Y/N heard a familiar voice behind him, making him furrow his eyebrows in annoyance. "You say that as if you don't look 10 times weirder." The (h/c)ette deadpanned, getting up from where he was crouched at. "At least I'm deserving of my title and actually worked hard to get to where I am." The Hashira scoffed, crossing his arms. "Stop running your mouth like you know everything about me. I can even tell you have absolutely no idea who trained me, let alone knowing anything about my past. Just stop talking to me entirely- you're only here to watch, are you not? Therefore, your comments are unnecessary. Unless you have something useful to say, then don't say it at all." By that point, Y/N was really mad. Insulting or underestimating him was one thing, but assuming things about his past or the work he had put in his training was another. And he was not about to allow anyone topple over any of his efforts- even if it were Kagaya, he would've spoken up about it. He simply walked past the older male, his head hanging low, not even sparing a glance towards the pillar's direction.

'Remember what Muichiro said. I have to speak to the townspeople and gather intel..' Y/N chanted in his brain, looking around the area for any people outside. He only spotted one man, who looked absolutely traumatised and stumbling left and right, as if he were drunk; that was definitely demon work. "Excuse me, sir.. I have been sent here to investigate some disappearances of people in the area. Do you happen to know anything about it?" Y/N suddenly appeared next to the man, making him flinch by how the boy's footsteps were soundless. "Wh-who are you?! Why would I tell you something like that?! You don't even look like you're from around here!" The man yelled, catching the attention from some people who were hiding in their houses, now making them look outside their windows to catch the interaction. "Sir, I've already explained why I need to know this information. The least you can do to make the disappearances stop is tell me what's been happening in this area. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be the next to go missing, would you?" The young boy said in an attempt to calm the man down, furrowing his eyebrows. He was already running out of patience. "Hey, what's going on there?!" Another man yelled out, approaching the two- he seemed pretty hostile. "This weird boy is interrogating me about the people going missing!" The man the (h/c)ette had been talking to originally exclaimed, pointing a finger at the Kinoe. The other man grabbed onto the teenager's uniform shirt harshly, lifting a portion of the the boy's weight. "What the hell do you think you're doing here?! Who do you think you are?!" The man who was clutching onto Y/N's uniform yelled into his face, but the younger averted his eyes away from the middle-aged man's face, looking off to the rooftop of a house, where a familiar Hashira sat at, as if he was asking for confirmation to proceed with something he had in mind. The pillar only gave a nod, watching the interaction go down.

The e/c boy quickly pried the man's hand off of his uniform and used it to throw the male over his shoulder, onto the other man who accused him, making the two knock eachother over. "I'm a goddamn Demon Slayer! I'm not here to fool around with you two drunk, wasted, old freaks! I'm here do kill a fucking demon! So tell me everything you know on the situation before I decide to feed you two to it!" Y/N said loudly, a firm, strict and fierce tone in his voice that made both of the old men cower before him. He sighed in irritation, twisting his foot against the ground, a blade popping out of his shoe. Both of the older males widened their eyes at the sight of the blade, both immediately getting into a begging position. "W-we're sorry! Please forgive us! We will tell you everything you need!" The first man said, bringing his clasped-together hands above his head. "Yes! We will! We're very sorry!" The second male said, doing the same action. "Tch. You didn't seem very sorry when you were yelling in my face. Not only that, but you also have no self-respect, cowering before a boy like myself like that. And to top it off, your breaths reek of sake! Completely unhygienic! You two are truly pathetic!" The young boy scolded, a disgusted expression washing over his features. "We're terribly sorry!" The first man repeated, looking as if he were about to cry- the second one as well. "Whatever. Just tell me everything you know. I want to get this shit over with." Y/N said, allowing the two to explain the situation. "It started 3 weeks ago, people from the other nearby villages started disappearing without a trace. 2 days ago it started happening here too. People noticed a pattern where the women start disappearing, usually the older ones, then the older men, which leaves the children unprotected. Then, they disappear too. This happens every night! First it was my wife, then his. That's why we've been drinking. It's likely the next victim will be another woman, so please look after them at night!" The second mad explained, pleading for the safety of the women of the town. "Right, I'll make sure to. Thank you for your cooperation. By any chance, are there any clothing stores here?" Y/N thanked, as an idea popped up in his head.

"Thank you for your purchase! I'm sure the lucky lady you're buying this for will be very pleased!" The female vendor said cheerfully as she handed the boy a neatly folded black kimono, with a sakura petal pattern at the hem of fabric, accepting the money for it in return. "A-ah, yeah! I'm sure she will..!" Y/N said awkwardly, bowing as thanks to the older woman before exiting the store. He leaped up to the rooftops of the small village houses, running towards the rooftop Obanai sat at, sitting next to him. "You were being pretty interesting earlier." The ravenette remarked, looking at the younger boy next to him. "Thanks." The (h/c)ette said awkwardly, before turning to face the older male. "Hey, I um, need you to do something for me.." The Kinoe started, earning a curious head tilt from the Serpent pillar. "So, this demon attacks at the moment.. And I have this kimono here-" The instant the kimono was mentioned, the teenager was cut off. "No." The older replied, looking as if he were about to pull out his sword and stab the e/c boy. "Oh, but please! Out of the two of us you're more likely to pass as a girl! And if you're not going to fight at all, at least make yourself useful instead of just bitching about my rank!" Y/N begged, holding out the pretty kimono. "Oyakata-sama said that I don't interfere." The pillar said as an excuse, looking away. "You won't. I'll just use you as bait so that I don't endanger any of the women here." the 13-year-old poured, handing Obanai the kimono. "Only to ensure the safety of the people here." The older snatched the kimono and leaped off the roof, going to wear it behind some trees. Y/N just stayed sitting on the top of the roof, watching as the sun was about to start setting. When the other came back, the (h/c)ette had to try with all his might to keep a straight face; the heterochromatic-eyed male looked absolutely ridiculous. The Kinoe didn't question why he had kept his snake and bandages on his person, because the result was so funny that not laughing was harder than any training the younger had gone through. "I'll get into position in a bit, I'll need the sun to set first." The pillar said, trying his best to ignore how awkward it was to wear a kimono with a blade hidden in it. Y/N only nodded, continuing to watch the sunset until the show of colours was over with, the sky filling with the usual bright little dots that covered the black void of the night.

It had been an hour since sunset, Obanai decided it would be a good idea to get into position now. The two males found a basket lying around and filled it with fruit from a tree to create a believable feminine image for the pillar. He stood at the entrance of the village and was planning to walk slowly towards the end of if, until, around the middle of his stroll, he heard faint footsteps that were way too fast to be human, and certainly way faster than any average demon. He looked around, faking panic as he kept his basket in hand. Soon enough, a demon tried to attack him, but he dodged. "Well, that's some fast reflexes there, lady." A disgusting deep voice echoed through the empty main road of the village. The disguised male started running, obviously as a slow speed in order to imitate how normal people ran, but of course, the demon caught up to him and pinned him against the wall, looking into the heterocheomatic eyes he possessed. Little did the demon know a certain h/c boy was watching the scene. Y/N leaped down and kicked the demon off Obanai, giving him a concerned look. "I'm fine, but that's lower moon 3 and he's very fast. Be fucking careful." The boy was about to reply, but he his direction was stolen by the sound of sole sort of projectile making its way towards his skull. He swiftly dodged and unseathed his blades, also twisting his feet against the ground to make the blades in his shoes pop out. "Get away and get your normal clothes of something. I'll be fine, I think." The (h/c)ette said to the pillar quietly, staring directly at the lower moon demon. "Ah, a demon hunter. Is the woman a demon hunter too? Is that even a woman to begin with, with that voice?" The demon pondered as it used its claws to draw blood from its skin, the cut regenerating with barely any time delay. "Whatever, that doesn't really matter, since you'll both end up dead anyway. You aren't the first ones trying to stop me either. It said, readying an attack with its blood demon art. Y/N just knew that he was going to have a bad time with that guy.
