Lan Wangji was at a loss in his words. His heart raced and he swallowed hard as he realized how familiar the voice was.

"What are you waiting for? Please help me up. I'll be a good boy from now on. Huh? Please, please. I didn't know the rules. I just want to see the moonlight but then you were guarding the gate so I sneaked out. I'm sorry, I won't do it again, huh. Come on."

The moonlight struck the man in a hole, revealing his face.

Lan Wangji uttered in desperation, his voice cracking.

"Wei Ying?"

The sky was a million clear eyes of light as if the night and day were dancing in one harmony. Dawn had come, and so Lan Wangji stared at the cloudless sky, trying to get even an ounce of sleep. He thinks that he also needs to take a nap so that he will be awake for the class later, but his mind and heart don't want to cooperate a bit.

He rolled over his bed, shut his eyes, and started to count sheep one by one, as what Wei Wuxian taught to him when they were in the Cloud Recesses, that time when he doesn't even value his presence believing that he will always be there. That he will never leave the world because he was smart, strong, and brave. But that wasn't the case. He lost him and that's the biggest regret he ever had in his life, not standing by his side at Nevernight, even carrying his regrets until this very day when he got reincarnated twice.

And now that he saw him once more, he couldn't help but be selfish and take him to his side, making sure he won't leave anymore. However, that will not be easy as it seems. The Wei Wuxian that he had known and loved for all his lifetimes didn't even recognize him, though his heart fully recognized him, his face, his voice, everything about him. He can't help but recall one more time what had happened the night before.

"Wei Ying?" Lan Wangji called him once more, this time his voice was filled with longing, desperate to hear Wei Wuxian's voice.

"Eh? Are you talking about me? If you can hear me, please get me out of here. Get a rope or something. I'm trapped."

Without any hesitation, Lan Wangji jumped off the hole and landed at top of Wei Wuxian!

"What are you-waaaah!"
Wei Wuxian didn't even have the time to react as Lan Wangji stumbled at top of him.

Since the hole was just the size of two grown-up men squeezed together, their bodies slumped to each other, making Wei Wuxian lose his balance and lean on the walls for his dear life.

Lan Wangji didn't care about the dirt in his white plain T-shirt or his ruffled hair because of his fall. All he cared about was this dear thing in front of him

"What are you doing?! Are you out of your mind? Why did you jump off? How will we be able to get out of here? Ughh! You're impossible!"

Wei Wuxian struggled out of his grasp. When Lan Wangji realized what transpired, he abruptly pulled himself up and stood straight. Wei Wuxian also stood up and dust off the dirt off his shirt.

"You're not an officer, are you? You looked young for an officer.''
Wei Wuxian commented, snorting. But then he added, "Such a waste of beauty. Having a handsome face with a dumb mind."

He cleared his throat and spoke to the stoic Lan Wangji.

"Shīxīong, I have an idea. I know how we will get out of here."
He said, grinning, showing his bunny teeth. Lan Wangji didn't respond, all he did was stare at him, trying to sink in his image.
