Two lifetimes ago, at the Library Pavilion of Gusu-Lan Sect.

Wei Wuxian was staring at the prominent Lan Wangji, who was busy reading books.

He stretched out his arms and yawned. He looked at the surroundings around him. The room was adorned with snowy-white walls and its corners are filled with books that overwhelm him and that bore him to death.

This is the day that he hated the most, but at the same time, he likes best because he won't be listening to boring lectures that the Gusu-Lan conducts, plus he's with Lan Wangji, one of the Twin Jades of Lan, who has a stoic expression but has beautiful white eyes adorned with long, dark eyelashes who accompanies him on his punishments. Having someone beside him, being patient with him is a great pleasure for him, especially since most people cannot handle his quirkiness.

He placed his hand under his chin and stared at the man clothed in white, mourning robes in front of him.

"Pst. Lan Zhan!"

He called out. Lan Wangji didn't respond, his eyes are focused on the book he's reading. He grinned and called him again.

"Lan Zhan! I have a question."

"Noise is prohibited in this library."
Lan Wangji replied, not looking at him. Wei Wuxian knew that he would say that but he continued pestering him. He doesn't know why, but his day wouldn't be complete without annoying Lan Wangji. It feels like, it became part of his routine. The more annoyed Lan Wangji, the more it made him happy.

"What's the thing that interests you the most?"
Wei Wuxian asked, moving a little closer to him.

"Aye, if you won't tell me what interests you, I'll tell you mine."

He placed both hands under his chin, stared in his direction with dreamy eyes, waiting for Lan Wangji to turn around. When Lan Wangji turned his head towards the one beside him, their faces are just inches apart, making Wei Wuxian breathe in the sandalwood scent of Lan Wangji.

"What?"
Lan Wangji asked, a frown forming his eyebrows. It must be not something like the porn books that
he showed him last time, or the nonsense things that came out from his mouth, or else he would not tolerate his behavior anymore.

"You." He replied, grinning.

Lan Wangji's eyes widened a little, but he's back with his old expression and muttered.

"Shameless!"

Present Time, at the Library Pavilion.

Lan Wangji was sitting in front of Wei Wuxian who was writing on the yellow pad the words

"I will not interrupt my teacher again. I will abide by the rules at all times".

He needs to copy those words, filling four pages of the yellow pad. He's still on his first but he was already annoyed at it.

"Hey, what's your name?"
Wei Wuxian asked the guy in front of him who's wearing a well-ironed uniform. He was silent the whole time, and Wei Wuxian can't stand being quiet at all so he needs someone to talk to.

"Lan Wangji. Birth name, Lan Zhan." He replied immediately. His heartbeat was still abnormal as ever, wanting to talk to him, but he can't find the words to say. Luckily, Wei Wuxian was the one who initiated the talk.

"Lan Wangji. Lan Zhan. That's a good name. Are you perhaps acquainted with Mr. Lan Qiren?"
Wei Wuxian encountered Lan Qiren when he transferred to this school. He can say he's a grumpy, old man, but he's still thankful that he accepted him here.

"Yes, he's my uncle."
Was his short reply. He wanted to talk more, he wanted to converse with him and tell him everything that he failed to confess, but he doesn't dare to do so. Maybe not yet. He wants to take it slowly. As long as he's within his reach, he wouldn't allow anything to happen to him. Not anymore.

"Wow. That's amazing. By the way, I am Wei Wuxian. But my friends call me 'Sean' because, in our city, my name seemed so trivial, so unrealistic. Like someone from the old era. But you know what?" He paused, checking if he's still listening.

"What?"

''My real name is Xiao Zhan, that was what my parents named me. However, they told me that when I was about two or three years old, I refused to be called by that, I even caught up with a fight for those who will call me by that name. Instead, I want them to call me Wei-"

"Wei Ying?"
Lan Wangji interrupted, guessing that he would say that.

"Haha! Wrong guess. It's not Wei Ying. It's Wei Wuxian."
Wei Wuxian corrected him, but he was astonished that someone mentioned that name.

Wei Ying... That name sounds so familiar.

Wei Wuxian thought. Besides what happened last night when someone called him that name, he kind of thinks that he heard that name from somewhere else, more of like in a dream.

Then he remembers something.

"Are you perhaps the guy who helped me out last night?!"
Wei Wuxian panicked. No one called him that name before, except that guy last night whom he escaped from. And knowing that he called him 'Wei Ying' this time, perhaps he's the same guy last night!

"Mn."
He nodded, still looking serious as ever.

"How did you recognize me now?"
He wondered. It was dark all over the forest, and even himself didn't recognize the one whom he's talking to.

"I just did. I will always recognize you, Wei Ying."

He was not sure of why he was telling him "I will always recognize you" but what concerns him was what happened at the time he left him in that hole.

"Oh no. How did you come out? How long were you trapped there?"
He asked, unsure if the officer read the note he placed on the officer's table when he went back to the entrance and then fled away.

"For three hours."

"Three hours? Oh shit. I'm sorry, Lan Wangji. I didn't mean to leave you there."

He apologized, guilt was written all over his pale face. He didn't mean to leave him behind. In fact, he was thankful that this guy came to help him out. However, he won't be able to do his mission if someone knew he went outside to meet someone. So, he needs to leave him and just ask for another hand to help his helper.

"It's okay. I already asked them to cover them up and make sure that they will leave no hole all over the place to avoid the same incident."

"Did you tell them it was me?"

"No. I wouldn't."

Wei Wuxian released a deep sigh, knowing that this guy doesn't hold it against him.

"You're good! You interest me a lot. Let's be friends then, Lan Wangji?"

He held out his hand, smiling from ear to ear, waiting for him to take his hand.

Lan Wangji swallowed hard, his face and ears burned cherry-red as he remembered the same scenario two lifetimes ago, at the same library when Wei Ying told him that what interests him the most was him.

He hesitated at first, but then he held out his hand and shook hands with him.

"Just call me, Lan Zhan."
He said, his lips are slowly forming into an arch.

"Lan Zhan it is."
He smiled, eyes glimmering at the newfound friend.
