In the dimly lit council chamber of Zhèngzhí University, tension hung thick in the air as Lan Qiren, the esteemed leader of the Lan Clan, addressed the gathering. He held a report detailing the mysterious events at the Cloud Recesses. The sacred grounds, a symbol of the University's heritage, seemed to be under an otherworldly influence.
"The walls of discipline just fell on their own without any external factors involved. If it was so, we would have felt it here. But even the guards there didn't notice the tragedy until the next day, so how is that even possible?"
Jin Khaolin one of the elders, retorted. The assembly started to mutter at each other, each with different opinions.
Lan Xichen, president of the student club, wore a perplexed expression. The idea of taking down the walls of the Cloud Recesses contradicted the principles of their reality. He pondered, "Could mere mortals be responsible, or have the divine forces intervened?"
Lan Wegin, the aunt of Lan Xichen, a seasoned elder known for her pragmatism, broke the silence with a stern declaration. "Sorcery may be afoot within our own walls. Someone within the university may be attempting to breach the sanctity of the Cloud Recesses. We must act decisively to protect our sacred land."
"How could that be possible? We didn't even allow anyone to explore the Cloud Recesses. Even mentioning its existence to anyone, we have forbidden that as well. So what really happened? Could one of us here slip and tell their family about this confidential information?"
The other elder chided.A hushed murmur spread through the council, each member grappling with the unsettling notion of an internal threat.
Accusatory glances darted across the room as Lan Qiren intervened, his voice cutting through the rising discord.
"We have safeguarded the Cloud Recesses for generations, concealing its existence to protect its sanctity," Lan Qiren declared, his tone unwavering.
"This breach is an affront to our legacy, and we must unite to preserve what our ancestors entrusted to us."
The council room echoed with a resolute agreement, but beneath the surface, suspicion lingered. The elders, once bound by shared purpose, now found themselves entangled in a web of accusations. The very foundation of their unity seemed on the verge of crumbling.
"Instead of pointing fingers at one another, why don't we start to investigate? Lan Xichen," Lan Wegin motioned, "You have to search for students who are suspicious, whom you think is doing something behind the school grounds. Since this had happened just this year, search for transferee students, or those who had transferred out. You can widen your perspective. Just make sure not to let others know what is happening right now, or else more minds will be ignited and they'll be more interested in our ancient place. I can count on you, right?"
Lan Xichen nodded in respect, trying to think of some prospects of his search.
"On the other hand, we can do our investigation within our homes just to be fair and square."
Lan Wegin added.~~~
Last Day of University FoundationUnder the starry canvas of the Lantern Day Festival, Zhèngzhí University's courtyard transformed into a spectacle of vibrant lanterns and animated students.
Wuxian, with his carefree spirit, reveled in the festivities, laughter echoing in the air as he weaved through the crowd. Yet, amidst the celebration, Lan Wangji observed quietly, a silent participant in the lively tapestry of lanterns and joy.
Wangji's gaze lingered on Wuxian, his mind transcending the present moment to the memories of their past lives at the Cloud Recesses. Lantern Day held a special significance for them, a tradition they had embraced in their previous existence. Wangji couldn't help but be immersed in the nostalgia that painted the recollections of their shared moments beneath the ancient trees.
