"I needed to ask you a favor."

"A favor? What is it?"
He was half excited half frightened on what Lan Wangji might ask of him.

"Set up a date for me."

"A date?"

"Yes, with your friend."

~~~~
"Mr. Nie! What are you waiting for? Come over here!"
Mr. Wen screamed across the room and that made Huaisang trip over and run for his life.
Lan Wangji was left hanging in the middle of the classroom. His classmates whispered to one another, thinking how he was so aloof to other girls, ignoring them like they are pieces of sh*ts, and yet he was so determined to be set up on a date with a guy transferee.
But Lan Wangji didn't seem to care at all, and shame wasn't drawn on his face either, so he quietly took his belongings and left the classroom immediately.
He went directly to the Library Pavilion, his favorite spot. There was a corner on the library that was exclusive only for him, as he requested his Uncle to make one for him. There was a transparent glass in between that area, and only those who are inside can see what's happening on the other side. The latter will only see his reflection on it as it resembles a plain mirror.
He scanned the bookshelves, looking for something that will help him keep his sanity. He saw a book entitled "Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect" by Ian Stevenson. He was amazed how technology changed over time, and how a lot of things were different from the present times to his past life.
In this present time, people no longer practice cultivation, an occupation that he had known all his life. The people here speak differently, dress differently, and even live normal lives.
Throughout his lifetime, he had only one goal: to find Wei Wuxian.
And apparently, this is the first time that he found Wei Ying, so he had concluded that he will do everything to keep him, to hide him away, to do the things he failed to do to him in his past life.
But how will he do that? Does he even have the right to do so? Will he even remember him?
He skimmed the book, trying to find some information that can help him do the right thing, in the right conditions. He is trying to find out if there are instances that one person remembers his past, old self, though he can attest that he is one of those few individuals. What makes him different was that he was still under that spell that his brother put on him, so he was not quite sure if it is also possible to happen to other people.
He was so drawn into digging deeper into the book when he heard his name being called outside the glass room. He lifts his chin to see who invaded his privacy and was not surprised to see his brother standing on the other side.
He rushed towards his brother and meet him outside.
"Brother."
He called out. Lan Xichen put on a smile and walked towards him.
"You don't need to wait here, you can just come in." Lan Wangji said, inviting him in.
"It's alright, Wangji. I won't stay long. I just came here to say that the guidance counselor wants to see you."
"Why?"
"I've been wondering as well, let's find out."
Lan Wangji nodded and followed his brother out of the library.
As they walked at the pathway, a lot of girls whispered to one another, pointing silently at Lan Wangji. Their voices are not audible, but Lan Xichen was sure that they were talking about his brother. He heard one of them say,
"....is gay. The other section said so."
He's not the type to fight back or argue with someone who's badmouthing him, but this time, he wants to defend his brother, just a little to shut their mouths. Before he can even do that, a student screamed at the hall.
"Shut up, you idiots! Why are you whispering to one another foul things about the person who's just walking in front of you? Are you dumb? Can't you just shut up your f*cking mouth?"
The crowd shut up their mouths, as though they were drenched in cold water.
Lan Xichen turned around to see who spoke from the crowd, while Lan Wangji just gave him a side glance.
The student who spoke walked away in the other direction, making Lan Xichen find it difficult to recognize him.
"Let's go."
He resumed and walked ahead. Lan Wangji followed him silently behind.
They walked towards the guidance room and opened the door. They were stopped when Xue Yang approached them.
"Brothers! Wait."
He catch up on them and asked, "Are the rumors true? They aren't, right?"
"Xue Yang, do you believe them?"
Lan Xichen asked.
"No way! My boy is not gay!"
"Good, now go back to class and study well."
They opened the door of the guidance office, leaving Xue Yang behind.
When they entered the room, they saw the guidance counselor and Mr. Wen together with Nie Huaisang and the transferee.
Lan Wangji's heart skipped a beat upon seeing just the back of his Wei Ying. He fought back his urge to run to him and kiss him, so he only clenched his fist in retreat.
"The Lan brothers are here. You may take your seats."
Mr. Mingjue, their guidance counselor ordered.
They took their seats and Lan Wangji sat beside Huaisang, just one person away from Wei Wuxian.
Wei Wuxian inclined his head towards Lan Wangji and waved his hand.
"Hi, classmate!"
He mouthed and smiled widely. Lan Wangji gave him a stoic look and focused on Mr. Mingjue's talking. He swallowed very hard, trying to calm down his raging heart. But it's damn hard to be cool when Wei Wuxian is just inches away from him, so he forced himself to listen to the teachers.
"....So we decided to let Mr. Lan Wangji discipline and watch over our transferee, Mr. Wu Sean. Will that be alright with you, Mr. Lan?"
Mr. Mingjue motioned over to Lan Wangji.
"Eh? Why should I be disciplined or watch over? I'm not a kid anymore."
Wei Wuxian reacted.
"Based on your records here taken from your previous school, you had committed a lot of trouble. Since this school is highly focused on maintaining one's dignity and virtue, we don't tolerate a troublemaker. I think you should know them by now."
"What should I do?"
Lan Wangji asked.
"Just keep an eye on him, teach him the school rules and etiquette, and make sure that he will not violate any rule."
Mr. Wen declared.
"Mr. Lan, I don't want to be a headache for you. Just tell them that you are busy and you don't have time for another-"
"I'll take it."
Wei Wuxian was cut off when Wangji spoke. He can't believe this man will do it for him! Where's the freedom to choose what you want to do?
"Okay, then. I'll leave it all to you, Mr. Lan. If you have any difficulties or if you need help, just refer to this office."
Lan Wangji just nodded and looked at Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian forced a smile, showing him a sour look. Their eyes locked, never taking their eyes off of each other.
Nie Huaisang in between didn't know what to do, as he stared back and forth at these two people on both sides with their oozing staring competition.
