Xiao Xingchen sat on the examination table, his knee throbbing with pain. Doctor Yu had just finished cleaning his wound, and now the three men stood in an uneasy silence.

"Are you feeling alright, Xiao Xingchen?" Doctor Yu asked, his tone gentle yet concerned.

Xingchen nodded, offering a small smile despite the discomfort, "Yes, doc. I'm sorry for the trouble. I did not expect to encounter a boulder on the way from the school garden."

Xue Yang couldn't resist making a remark, his annoyance evident, "Didn't you have any walking sticks or anything like that? I mean, you're blind, you should have been more careful."

Lan Xichen shot Xue Yang a disapproving look, silently urging him to hold his tongue.

Xingchen waved off Xue Yang's comment, trying to diffuse the tension, "Thank you, Mister Xue Yang, and Mister USC president, for bringing me here. But I can manage myself."

Xue Yang scoffed, unable to contain his frustration, "This cockyhead..."

Lan Xichen intervened, his voice calm yet firm, "Let's focus on getting you better, Xingchen. Doctor Yu, what's the prognosis?"

Doctor Yu handed Xingchen a prescription written in braille and gave him some instructions, "Mr. Xiao, I'm afraid you'll have to use your walking stick again. I know you want to train yourself without it, but your knee has obtained a serious injury, and it will take a week or two to fully recover. On top of that, you also need to clean the wounded area thoroughly, or else it will worsen over time."

"I will, thanks Doctor Yu," Xingchen replied earnestly, accepting the prescription.

Doctor Yu glanced at Xingchen with concern, "I suggest that someone accompanies you until you recover."

Lan Xichen immediately offered his assistance, "I can accompany Xiao Xingchen until he's better."

Doctor Yu hesitated, considering Lan Xichen's responsibilities, "But Lan Xichen, you're the University Student Council President. Your hands are full, especially with the winter camp approaching. I can't burden you with this."

Lan Xichen turned to Xue Yang, a hopeful expression in his eyes, "Then I suggest Xue Yang will be in my stead. What do you think, Xue Yang? You're free, right?"

Xue Yang's expression darkened, and he mouthed, "ME? No way."

"Doc, I told you, I can manage myself. This is nothing new to me."

Xiao Xingchen stubbornly said, holding on to the prescription.

Doctor Yu sighed, looking at Xingchen. "Xingchen, I heard you moved in here in the school dormitory, so it means, you live alone now. It's best to have someone with you to assist."

Before Xingchen could respond, Doctor Yu spoke again. "I'll have to call your guardian if you insist on refusing help."

Xingchen knew he had no choice. He also don't want to bother his parents who just approved of him moving out from the house.

"Okay, Doc. I'll accept Xue Yang's help."

Xue Yang was left with no choice but to settle with this arrangement, though he clearly wasn't pleased.

"Thank you mister Xue Yang and mister Lan Xichen. Can you step outside for a moment? I need to talk to Xingchen alone. Just wait for him outside, okay?"

"Okay, Doc. We'll go ahead now."

As they exited the infirmary, Lan Xichen caught up with Xue Yang, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "Xue Yang, I know you're not exactly thrilled about this, but Xiao Xingchen could really use our help. Can I count on you?"
