If Eric could come up with one word to describe how he felt it would be ashamed.
• Ashamed that he couldn't have saved her.
• Ashamed that he had not kept his promise never to leave her side.
And now she was gone and it was all his fault. He should have been there for her.
But he wasn't.
Now as he trudged into OPS. He was officially an orphan.
His look said it all. The sadness, the anger, the mourning.
Nell looked up from her paperwork as he trudged into OPS.
"I'm so sorry, Eric" She said reaching to put a reassuring hand on his arm.
"I don't need your sympathy." He turned away from her sinking into his seat next to her.
"Okay, you need time, I get it." she said trying to stay strong for him.
"No, you don't get it. My mum was cruelly ripped away from me and all you can say is. I get it. You are so far from getting it. I don't even know you anymore. Just leave me alone" He yelled getting up in Nell's face, almost spitting the words at her.
Nell had to remain strong she had to be the bigger person and make the right decision.
"FINE!!" She screamed slapping him hard across the face, darting from the room.
She made the wrong decision but it was too late to go back now.
As Nell hurtled down the stairs, she could no longer stay silent and burst into loud sobs. Her eyes clouded with tears and failed to notice a long electrical wire covered over shoddily with scotch tape, and tripped right over it.
Kensi was the first to react lunging to try and get to Nell before she hit the hard tile floor with Deeks not far behind her. But they were too late, her knee make contact with the floor. Giving an almighty crack. Nell howling in pain.
There was no outward sign of damage but Hetty knew from the moment Nell's knee make contact with the floor she had shattered her knee cap.
Eric also in floods of tears, came running down the stairs, at the howling and had a look of utter guilt etched across his face.
He knelt by Nell's head trying to calm her as the paramedics. (Officially vetted of course) tried there best to support her knee. He whispered quiet words of comfort only she could head.
But then Nell no longer screaming. Held out an arm for him and he took it wrapping there arms tightly as they rushed her off toward the ambulance on a stretcher.
