i dunno why i just didnt rlly like this one

"Okay, James. I wanna test a theory." I squint at Jaiden, "Alright?..." Jaiden positions a camera in front of my face before grabbing out her phone. What's going on? What theory is she talking about? And why is she filming me?

"Okay then." Jaiden turns her phone around so I can see what's on the screen. My face immediately warms up and my heart beats ten times faster. Jaiden's holding up a picture of a beautiful guy with brown shaggy hair, a gorgeous smile and vintage glasses. She's holding up a picture of my crush. Or more specifically, she's holding up a picture of Adam.

"Holy crap- look at your face!! I knew it! You totally like him!" "W-what?? No!" "So it doesn't annoy you that Christian is flirting with him on Twitter?" Jaiden hands me her phone where a screenshot of Christian and Adam tweeting is displayed.

I read it out with a hint of venom in my voice, "*tweet thing*" I scrunch my nose up in disgust. "That son of a-" Jaiden bursts out laughing, "Oh my gosh! You are so jealous!" "No, I'm not!" Jaiden keeps laughing. "I'm not jealous!" "Really? And you're not bothered that Adam hasn't replied to any of your tweets recently?"

I look down at my sweaty hands. "I dunno... We just don't talk that much. So he... doesn't reply much either..." It's been bothering me lately that we don't talk much. I'm not sure why but when I message him he just doesn't respond for a whole day, yet I see him active on social media.

I shouldn't be this caught up in this. He might not have time to sit down and talk and only has time to have a quick scroll through twitter. Or maybe he hates me. Either of those is pretty likely.

"Dang. You sound genuinely upset. I feel sorry for you."

I roll my eyes and sigh. Now that Jaiden knows there's no point in leaving my room. She's totally gonna tell Adam and then he won't be able to look me in the eye! I might as well lock myself inside and never return to the outside world.

"So when are you gonna tell him?" Jaiden asks with a small grin on her face. I scoff, "Tell him?? Please. No way I'm doing that." "Why? Cause you're a coward?" I consider arguing with her but I already know there's no point. "Yeah. I'm a coward who can't say three words to the person who means most to me cause I'm just that pathetic."

Jaiden looks at me like she wasn't expecting what I said, "Damn, James. That was kinda depressing." With a shrug of my shoulders, I stand up, "Are we done here? Can I go cry and fear for my life now?" "Calm down you big baby." "No, I won't calm down. I don't like that I like him. The last thing I wanna do is weird him out and ruin our friendship!"

I couldn't help but get mad. The whole me liking Adam thing wasn't supposed to happen and I don't want Jaiden teasing me about it.

"So, what're you gonna do with the footage anyway?" I mumble, gesturing to the camera. "Oh... I dunno... Maybe show it to Adam? Maybe not," Jaiden smiles at me innocently. My eyes grow wide, "What?! No way! You can't do that!" "Who says I can't?" Jaiden smirks, turning from me to use her phone. "Me!" I argue, trying to reach her phone.

She turns from me, still tapping away at her phone. I desperately try to reach her phone until she suddenly stops and shoves her phone in her pocket.

"There we go." "What... did you do?" Jaiden chuckles and shrugs, "Just sent it to Adam. Only a matter of time until he sees it."

"Jaiden, you can't do this! You'll ruin my life!" "Can't delete it." "WHAT!?" Jaiden just shrugs, "Well, guess I'll be on my way." I quickly grab her wrist and look her dead in the eyes, "I don't think you understand. This will ruin everything!" "No, I don't think you understand," Jaiden turns to me and places a hand on my shoulder, "I'm trying to help you, Jameson."

We both pause. "Okay yeah that sounded weird coming from my mouth," Jaiden points out. "Yeah, it did," I agree in a heartbeat. "I'll leave that for your boyfriend. But my point stands!"

"Seriously?" I sigh, "This is ridiculous! Find a way to delete the messa-"

Ding, ding!

"W-was that your phone?"

Ding, ding!

"Indeed it was."

Ding, ding!

"Why's it going off so much?"

Ding, ding!

"I dunno."

Ding, ding!

"Check it already!!"

Jaiden quickly pulls out her phone and stares at it for a few moments, before turning to me sadly, "Sorry, James."

My heart stops. "Wh-what?..."

"I'm sorry," she repeats handing me her phone.

I take the phone, scared of what Adam said that made Jaiden apologise so sadly. Before I can read the first message Jaiden chuckles, "Sorry you were wrong."

I look up and see her smiling at me. My eyes dart back down to the screen and I read what Adam said.

A: what is this?
A: are you fr?
A: that's not james
A: right?
A: you can't play with my feelings like this jai!
A: does he??
A: like me that is??
A: please tell me he does

As I'm reading more texts come through

A: if you arent playing some cruel prank can you ask him if he wants to go out with me?
A: or are you pranking me?
A: if so forget that
A: but if not
A: hhhh jaiden!!
A: answer me!
A: this is nerve wracking!

I look back at Jaiden who's grinning at me, proudly, "Told you so." "B-but!..." "But what?" Jaiden asks, still smiling smugly. "This can't be Adam," I mutter. It can't be him right? Maybe Jaiden changed someone's contact name to trick me. Yeah. That's probably it.

"Seriously, dude. I can't believe how much you don't wanna believe this. It's what you want right??"

I think about that for a moment. Why am I scared? Adam is my best friend and I've wanted our relationship to go further for a year now! This is it. The moment I've been waiting for!!

"You're right. This is what I want. I'm going." I grab my coat, swinging it over my shoulders and and pulling my arms through the sleeves.

"You do realise you could just message him back or call him, right?"

"Of course I realise that. But he's... worth more than that."

Jaiden aws as I grab my keys. I give her a slight smile before turning and leaving my house.

I tread through the snow, along the street to Adams house.

This is it. Hopefully this wasn't a joke, Adam does actually like me the I like him and maybe - just maybe - today will mark the day we confessed to each other.
