Legit just didn't know where to go next with this. Also, their dynamic was a little weird.
"Wanna change games?" Adam asks. I nod and exit Mario Kart, going back to the Switch menu. "I'm not sure if there's anything we haven't played yet," I say, scrolling through my collection of games. I sit and scroll to the end of the page and turn to Adam. "I don't think there's anything for us to play. Unless you wanna play Just Dance." Snickering, I turn to Adam. He just looks me in the eye and nods.
"What?" "Let's do it. I guarantee I can dance better than you." Adam smirks at me and stands up. I stand up next to him and launch Just Dance, "Oh really now?" "These hips were made for shakin, Jameson." Adam wiggles his hips confidently. "Alright. We'll see who the better dancer is then." Adam raises his red Joycon and I raise my blue one. I select a random song and the game gives us "KILL THIS LOVE" by Blackpink.
Four different girls (in rather revealing outfits) pop up as our mentor options. "Yo, James. Which outfit do you think I'd look the most hot in?" I can't help but double over, laughing. "I dunno man! I mean you'd look hot in any of those." I stare at the tv and try to keep my cheeks from flaring up. Yet staring at the outfits longer only makes me visualise Adam in them. So much for containing the blush.
"Oh really now? Well I think I'll go with the one with pink hair. I dunno bout you, but I think I'd rock hot pink hair."
I chuckle and press 'a' on a random character. "Get ready to lose, Jameson," Adam grins as he stares at the tv screen intently. I admire his determination until the song starts faster than I thought it would.
The dance starts of okay. Until after literal seconds it gets more... interesting. It feels weird moving the way the dancers are. So... suggestively. I'm barely dancing, too embarrassed to do the dance properly.
Adam though? He doesn't seem to have an ounce of shame in his body. He keeps up with the foot work and flawlessly mirrors the dancer. Adam constantly gets perfects as he gets the timing and movements perfect. I try to keep up but I can only manage a few 'okays' and a bunch of misses. Not gonna lie, I'm watching Adam, not the screen. He wasn't just being cocky, he really is good at this.
"Aha! Beat you!" The screen shows our scores, and Adam has over double of what I have. "Jeez. You really are good at this." Adam nods, "Heck yeah I am. Let's do another!!"

"Can we... st-stop now? Please?" I sink into the couch, trying to catch my breath. "How are you tired? You barely moved!" Adam sits down next to me. "I dunno..." Adam shrugs, "Okay then. What should we do now?" "I mean it's just about lunch time? Should we eat eatsomething?" Adam nods quickly, with a childish grin on his face.
"Alright, what do you want?" I grab my phone out and open Uber Eats. Adam pushes my phone down and shakes his head, "No, no. Let's go out." I try to keep my face from turning red at the statement, "What?" "I don't wanna eat here. Let's go out!" Adam walks to the door and slides his shoes over his heels. I follow his lead, "Why though?"
Adam opens the door and walks out, breathing in deeply, "Cause, it's a beautiful day, Jameson!" I smile and mumble, "The sun's shining in a beautiful way." "Gonna take a shower brush my teeth and-" "Life is ultimately meaningless!" We shout in unison.
A smile spreads across my face, "Alright, alright let's go." We start walking down my street, both our hands swinging by our sides. As we're walking I feel an urge to hold his hand. No, no, no. Not gonna ask to hold his hand. That'd be so weird- "Ahem- so... there's a few stores down the street..." I change the subject hoping to not do something I regret, "We can pick somewhere to eat from there." Adam nods, "Coolio."
More silence. Dangit Adam. Now I'm just gonna keep having weird thoughts, I look over at Adam, You're lucky you're so cute. Or- wait. What's a less weird way to say that? Uhm. He's just cool. Yeah. Not cute. Cool.
"You're being pretty quiet, James." "Oh, uh. Y-yeah. I was just um... yeah..." I mentally facepalm, realising I started to explain but didn't. Now he's just gonna ask! "Just um?" "Just th-thinking."
Please stop asking questions. "About?" Dangit! "Uh..." I look around, desperately. "Trees!" I say quickly "Trees?" Adam repeats, skeptically.
"Uh... yeah. I watched this musical about a guy and he really likes trees and I was just thinking about why I haven't thought about trees much cause they're really cool. Of course that's not all the musical was about. There was also guy who died and a bunch of lies and some pretty gay parts. Some of it was pretty weird- not the gay parts though cause there's nothing wrong with being gay but what I mean is that some of it was weird in general."
Adam stares at me with a look of confusion on his face. "How do you talk so much in such a short amount of time?" I just shrug, having no recollection of what I just said. "Not that I don't like hearing your voice, but dang." "Oh wow look we're here!.." I quickly change the subject. "You're an odd one aren't you?" Adam has a dorky smile on his face, "You can laugh now, James. I know, I'm hilarious." I chuckle, "Sure you are. Now what do you wanna eat?" "Mmmm... burgers?"
We start walking down the row of shops to the burger place. We order and sit down at a table and wait. "See, James? Isn't it nice not eat at home all the time?" "Yeah," I say before quietly adding, "it's especially nice being here with you..." "What?" "What?" Adam looks at me with a confused frown, "You said something." I shake my head and try to smile normally but I'm sure it doesn't look normal based off the look Adam's giving me. "Okay then... why don't you tell me more about that musical you mentioned? About the trees and the... 'gayness'?" He puts finger quotes around 'gayness.'
"Oh uh... it's just a musical about a dude named Evan, who has social anxiety, he ends up pretending to be a dead guys friend after he commits suicide because he can't bring himself to tell the kids parents they weren't friends. Cause they found Evans note to himself that his therapist told him to write and the dead kid, Connor, had it on him when his parents found him. It was addressed to Evan and signed "Sincerely, Me" so they though it was a suicide note to Evan. Then Evan keeps accidentally telling them all these things like how they used to write emails with a secret email account. Then Evans family friend, Jared, starts saying Connors family think they were gay lovers cause they had a secret email account to send... uh... no no pictures to each other and I'm sorry I've been talking for too long."
"No, it's fine. It sounds pretty funny," Adam laughs and shakes his head, "Also, no no pictures? This conversation isn't going online. You don't need to censor yourself. Just say di-" "oKaY- yeah I get it-" I sit turning a little red for literally no reason. Why am I getting so embarrassed by something so small??
"Jeez, James. You're so childish sometimes," he pauses for a second, "I'd be lying if I said it isn't adorable." As soon as those words leave his mouth I have a coughing fit. "James?? Are you alright??" I nod and clear my throat, "S-sorry." "That was my fault. I shouldn't have said that." "No, no. I just... wasn't expecting it..." We sit in silence.
Gotta think of something to say.
Uh....
"You're adorable too..." Adam looks up and me, "What?" Oh wait what did I say?? No- I didn't tell him he's adorable did I?? "N-nothing!" I say with a red face. "I think it was something," he smirks at me, which only makes my face a brighter red. He needs to stop being so attractive, god damn it.
"I'm not sure that's possible, Jameson." I look up at him, confused. "It's impossible for me to stop being attractive," he smiles confidently and places his chin in his hands. "W-wait did I say that? Like... out loud??" Adam nods. "Ah, I'm so sorry!!" "Nah, it's fine. I appreciate it, Cutie." I glance to the kitchen wondering where the HECK our burgers are. "Erm... I uh-" "James, chill. We're just playing. It's not a big deal."
