Chapter 17 - The Camera Was Just An Excuse

- Alex? - I mumbled confused

- Yeah, me. You know, we work together. - he said on the other end of the line

- Of couse I know who you are Alex, I’m just surprised, why did you call? - I asked

- You forgot your camera on the coffee shop the other day. 

- Oh, yeah! I totally forgot about it! I’ll pick it up monday - I responded

- Hum, actually you can pick it up right now, I’m in your hotel.

- What?

- Yeah, I was passing by and thought I’d drop it off for you - he explained

- You’re in the Corinthia? Right now? - I asked

- Yeah, in the lobby.

- Hum, right. I’ll be heading downstairs in a minute ok? - I said 

- Ok, see you soon.

- Bye - I said hanging up the phone

“Who is Alex?” Ella asked “A friend” I answered “Should George be worried about this Alex guy?” Jaymi asked teasing me “Of course not!” I replied feeling my face red, “Ops, blush alert! I think he’s trouble!” Jaymi said “Shut up you guys, I need to go downstairs” I said getting up from the floor “Why?” they both asked “He’s got something of mine” I explained heading to the elevator “Is it your virginity? I hope not” Jaymi said “JAYMI!” I yelled while Ella was laughing “Ignore him, he’s drunk, just come back soon so you can figure things out with George” Ella said helping Jaymi up from the floor “Ok, give me 5 minutes” I replied entering on the elevator “I’m not that drunk Laura, if you stay any longer I’ll head downstairs and pick you up!” I heard him say.

Oh my god, Jaymi drunk it’s just hilarious for other people and embarrassing for me…great. The elevator’s doors opened and I entered in the lobby, it wasn’t hard to find Alex he was sitting on a couch waiting for me “Hey” I said smiling “Can’t believe you came all the way here” “I was around” he smirked at me “And you?” “Me? What?” I asked “You look pretty fancy for someone who was just chillin at her hotel room” he said “Where were  you?” he asked, I blushed, I didn’t know what to say “I was…nowhere. Please ignore my outfit, it wasn’t chosen by me anyway” I responded “Well, whoever dressed you up did a good job” he said winking at me, I blushed for the thousandth time “Hum…and you brought the camera right?” I said trying to change the subject “Yeah, it’s right here” he answered taking it out of his pocket “Thank you so much Alex” I said “If you want I can call you a cab” I said “I know a great driver” I told him remembering of Marcus, “No, no, the bus is fine” he said “Is the bus stop too far away?” I asked “No, it’s like, on the corner” he responded “Oh, then I’ll walk you to it” I said.

We left the hotel and started walking, luckily it wasn’t too cold outside, so my legs weren’t freezing. It was a very short walk till the bus stop, I could still see the hotel windows. “So, you said you were passing by, may I ask where were you?” I said when we got to the stop “Hum…about that” he said “What?” “I need to confess, I wasn’t really passing by” he admited “Hum, how come you weren’t?” I asked again, he took a deep breath “I knew you could get your camera back on monday, I actually did not went all the way here just to give it to you” “What do you mean?” I was confused, (I know, I sound naive, it’s because Iam!) “I came here to see you” he confessed “I wanted to come for you, the camera was just an excuse” by now I was already out of words, I would never (ever) see this coming “I like you Laura, I really do. You are so beautiful. I liked you since the first time I saw you and we connected so well, all those days working together were amazing” I was in complete shock. Just think of the hottest guy you know, the one that with 100% of certainty you would snog, yeah, you just thought of Alex. He already kind of looked like George and was as nice as him. I was drunk and hypnotized by his green eyes and white smile. I’m weak ok? I admit.

“We bonded on the shop, I knew that” he said “I knew you liked me, but I just wasn’t sure if you liked me in the same way as I did” he kept on talking “So today, I came here to figure that out” now we were inches apart, milimeters.
