“God dammit!” I heard Amelia shouting “Shit, shit, shit” she huffed getting out of the car.
It was just a small crash in my aunt’s car, right in the rear bumper to be precise. Of course, after suddenly stepping on the brakes in the middle of the road, it wasn’t a surprise if an accident occurred. And regarding my luck, of course it did happen.
Amelia went outside to talk to the driver, I didn’t hear any arguing so I wasn’t feeling worried. 5 minutes later she came back to the car. “It’s just a little bump, I already apologized” she explained opening the glove box and getting some papers out “The driver is a lovely old man, very calm” “So all is good? Can we go now?” I asked “Well, that’s the problem, I need to call the insurance company first and I bet they won’t be here so soon” she responded “But then we will miss the show!” I sighed “Oh, I might miss it, but you young lady won’t!” Amelia said “Call that cab driver, friend of yours, tell him to come fast and take you to the arena. And take this too” she handed me some money, “Amelia I can’t leave you here!” I protested “I want you to, you can’t miss the show, all your friends are performing! I’ll meet you there later ok? I’ll call you honey, don’t worry” my aunt comforted me.
I felt sad and guilty. If I hadn’t talked about the stupid sugarscape thing this wouldn’t happen! I wondered why Amelia reacted like that…
I called Marcus and he arrived fast “Where to?” he asked when I entered on the car “X Factor Arena please” I responded “Oh, so you did watch the show?” he said “Yes, I saw the contestants they’re great” I replied “And you’re staying in the same hotel as them! I bet that you’re all friends now” he laughed, I just smiled in return.
The traffic was horrible, it took me half an hour to get there and more 15 minutes to get in. “You’re late” the woman at the gates told me “I know” I said handing her my ticket “Car accident” I explained “Oh well, enjoy the show anyway” she responded letting me in.
I rushed through the corridors and walked on someone’s performance. It was Ella’s turn, she was singing “Loving You” by Minnie Ripperton, looking beautiful in a long white gown with some sparkly pink details on top.
The seats were marked and as Ella was one of the contestants, the chair I was suppose to be seated was in the front. Reaaaally in the front. So I had to walk all the way through the audience. I wasn’t being very subtle and my heels weren’t helping me as well. It was very easy for everyone to see and hear the brunette girl in a red dress running to the front of the stage.
I finally sunk in the chair and sighed in relief. A bit of tiredness too, damn those heels. I looked at Ella and surprisingly she was looking back at me. Singing the chorus perfectly. But she wasn’t saying that loving me was easy, her eyes said“Where were you? Why are you late?” I mouthed “Car trouble” and “I’ll tell you later” she seemed to have understood me and looked away.
When Ella’s performance was over, everyone at the audience applaud and gave her a stand ovation. Of course, she was amazing. Gary told her she nailed it, Nicole said she was a timeless classic act and Louis said she was a worldwide recording artist. There was a little argument between Tulisa and Louis about Ella’s hairstyle, comparing her to Adele, but everything was alright in the end.
She just smiled trough the compliments and observations, just good stuff obviously. Dermot came on stage and after asking her some questions, he announced Ella’s number for the voting. I got my phone and voted 3 times while the show was on a break.
“Hey you’re Ella’s friend aren’t you?” I heard someone asking me, I looked up and couldn’t believe who was talking to me, Nicole Scherzinger. I hadn’t noticed how close I was from the panel, right next to her! I regained my senses “Y-yes” I responded “But how do you know?” I asked surprised “I heard you arriving and saw her looking at you like you already knew each other. Those are some noisy heels girl! But they’re really nice, loved your look!” she responded smiling at me.
Ok, this wasn’t happening. A super famous singer complimenting my outfit? It couldn’t be real. “Wow, you noticed! Oh god, thank you so much! Sorry for the noise though and well your look, what can I say, it’s just gorgeous!” I replied nervously “You think? Thank you sweetheart, this one was chosen by me not the stylist!” she grinned “And by your accent, I see that you’re neither British or American, right?” “Yes, you’re very observing. I’m actually from Brazil” I explained “Gosh, I love Brazil! Wonderful beaches, love the weather!” she said. The commercial break took about 3,4 minutes and while it was on me and Nicole chatted a little about my home country.
She was so nice! And very beautiful too, wearing a sparkly long silver dress. When Dermot headed to the stage, meaning that the break was almost over Nicole said “It was lovely talking to you Laura, but the show must go on!” she smiled as the cameras turned to the judge’s panel.
“It was lovely talking to you too!” I smiled back. I can’t even- that was surreal. The night couldn’t get better, but Louis Walsh proved me wrong when he announced “Now the act that I’m gonna introduce, are 4 amazing boys, JJ, George, Jaymi and Josh! It’s Union J!”
