Chapter 57 - Signature Smirk

"Hello girls" Jaymi was the first one to sit “How are the ladies this afternoon?"

"Oh, sir I’m good" Ella joked using her posh voice “But it seems like Ms.Carter is not so very well"

"And why is that?" Jaymi asked.

"Obviously because I wasn’t around" George intruded sitting next to me.

"As if" I rolled my eyes.

"I know you missed me lots and lots and lots" he grimaced.

"Oh, you wish!" I laughed and felt myself smiling as George’s leg touched mine below the table. With the corner of my eye I saw Jaymi and Ella exchanging suspicious looks.

"What’s up?" Gladly JJ and Josh arrived with their food.

"Nothing, just a little George and Laura romance as always" Jaymi smirked and Ella giggled in response.

"Don’t" I warned them “Not today, sugarscape already tested me enough with that".

"What do you mean?" Ella asked.

"Ugh, they made this interview, which I thought would focus on my new job, but no, they kept questioning me about George" I sighed.

"Was it because of my wonderful looks? Or my awesome personality?" he boasted. 

"Well you have neither of those so I don’t really know why they kept insisting on that" I simply replied.

"Ouch!" Josh said “Someone has a sharp tongue".

"I’m hurt!" George covered his face. But I knew he was joking.

"It’s just that I’ve had enough with this subject already" I explained “Even you guys keep mocking us".

"Maybe because it’s true?" Jaymi tried.

"Now that she said that and didn’t even apologize, I doubt it will ever be" George still had his face covered, pretending he was upset.

"Oh, Georgie!" I hugged him “I’m so sorry".

First he didn’t hug me back, just stayed there with his hands on his face, but seconds later I felt a pair of arms around me and I saw him revealing a large smile.

"Meh, it’s okay" he smirkerd.

"Aww" the rest of the table cooed. 

"See, that’s the mocking I’m talking about!" I pointed, breaking free of his grip.

"We can’t help it!" Ella replied “You two are so cute!"

"Well I certainly am, I don’t know about her" George chuckled.

"Wow, nice one" I grimaced at him.

"I wanna know more about this sugarscape interview!" JJ said.

"Ugh, sorry. I don’t think I wanna talk about it" I gave him a half smile and he responded with a pout.

"Relax Jamie boy" Jaymi said “We’ll see the interview one way or another, you know that".

"We will?" he lighted up.

"JJ you are so lost!" Ella laughed.

"What do you mean you are seeing it one way or another?" I arched an eyebrow to Jaymi.

"Well of course, we’ll see it on their website" he responded.

"Yeah, you probably will" I sighed.

"Is there something you said that you don’t want us to know?" George questioned.

"Maybe" I teased him. He looked me right in eye smiling, showing those lovely dimples, it instantly made me smile back thinking about how cute he was. We kept staring at each other. The table went silent. Shit, we were giving it too much away.

"So, how are rehearsals?" I turned away from George “Tell me all about it".

Luckily no one mentioned the “Gaura" moment and and the topic of the conversation was changed with no problems.

During it, George cheekily slid his hand down the table and put it on my thigh, rubbing his thumb gently across my skin.

It gave me chills and he must have felt because he giggled immediately. 

"What was that?" Jaymi asked him.

"Oh you know him, giggles come out of nowhere from this boy!" I tried an excuse.

Jaymi rolled his eyes and continued talking about song choice and rehearsals. I looked at George giving him the evils but he just continued with that signature smirk stamped on his face.

Never leaving his hand off my leg till the end of lunch.
