Chapter 78 - Mahiki Again

"Oh, my god" I gasp after reading the text "Something happened to Amelia"

"What?" Ella asks.

"I don't know, but I need to go see her" I grab my purse and run to the door.

"I'm coming with you!" I hear Ella shouting behind me.

She catches up with me on the elevator and we rush downstairs.

"Fuck, I don't think I have enough money for a cab" I curse.

"I'll pay, let's go" she waves at a car and it stops right in front of us.

We get in and tell the driver the address. I should've called Marcus but he could have taken longer and I don't know what has happened to Amelia.

A matter of life and death?

I'm a bit scared and definitely very worried. I have no idea what's going on. That was the only thing I heard from her during the whole day, maybe that's why she hasn't called me on my birthday? Or even acknowledged me at all? Is she in danger? 

The questions on my head come to a halt when the cab stops in front of Amelia's flat and I rush in. I leave Ella to pay the driver and mentally remind myself to apologize and give her the money once I know everything is fine.

The elevator is taking too long to reach the 3rd floor, when it finally does I start knocking on the door, actually, banging on it.

"Amelia it's me!" I shout "Is everything okay?"

The door flies open and all I hear is "SURPRISE!" lots of flashes and if I'm not mistaken confetti is thrown on my face.

"W-what?" I manage to croak.

"Surprise!" my aunt voice brings me back to reality as she hugs me "Happy birthday Laura!"

"What?" I repeat, clearly still shocked. There is a large sign written Happy Birthday Laura on the wall and balloons are all over the place. The contestants and some people from The Xtra factor crew are in the room, all wearing smiles and holding cameras.

"Is this...is this-"

"Yes, it is a surprise birthday party" Amelia laughs.

A surprise party? Enfaces on the surprise. They got me scared as hell.

"I was so worried!" I scold my aunt "You got me thinking that you were in danger and alone and that something had happened!"

"Sorry for that but we needed an excuse to make you come here" I hear behind me and see Ella getting out of the elevator.

"So you were in it too?"

"Of course" she smiles to Amelia "It was all team work" 

"I hate you guys for making me sick worried but love you even more for making me this" I hugged them both.

I greet the rest of the guests. We stay a while chatting and eating some of the food Amelia made, including the famous cupcakes from her coffee shop.

"Ella" I ask her after noticing the absent of my favorite boyband "Where's Ge- I mean, where's the boys?"

"They needed to stay in the studios because of a thing with Louis" she explains "But we'll meet them soon at the club"

"Club? What club?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Oh, yeah we forgot to tell her!" Ella turns to Amelia "You got the dress right?"

"Yes, wow, we almost forgot! I'll go get it" my aunt excuses herself and runs out of the living room.
