Cinnamon looked at the Statue of Dr.Light, reading the plaque underneath it. 'Father of modern robotics.' She was snapped out of her thoughts by Marino who ushered her inside of the front desk of MIT.
Marino: Can you believe this place used to be the place for the big brains of the U.S. used to come here hundreds of years ago.
Cinnamon: Yeah, now it's effectively a museum.
Cinnamon squinted at Marino
Marino: I didn't steal anything. Even if I did, nothing here is worth any money.
Cinnamon was about to say something, but the two's conversation was interrupted by Massimo calling for the two to help him find where the Maverick reading was at.
Massimo: Can't find any Maverick readings.
Marino: This place might have one of those secret entrances so be on the lookout.
The trio begin to touch everything, trying to figure out what can lead to the Maverick signal. Just then, Cinnamon knocked over a vase and the floor beneath them collapsed.
Fighting Fefnir: Levi, why are we going through the sewers?
Fairy Leviathan: It's the only place where we could find the Maverick without alerting either the Hunters or the Maverick in question.
Fighting Fefnir: Yeah but.. You know I hate aquatic terrain.
Leviathan rips right through the sewer entrance and looks at Fefnir with a smug smile.
Fairy Leviathan: Well you might as well take some dirt with ya for my domain.
Fighting Fefnir: Rgghh..
Fefnir groaned as the two began to move in the sewer system. But someone was behind them, as if they were watching the two.
Cinnamon rubbed her head as Marino helped her up. Massimo switched onto his night vision and noticed where they were: they were on top of a gear which was turning alongside other gears.
Marino: Huh, apparently the Maverick was busy enough to build this.
Before they could continue to move on, the entire room was bathed in UV light. Electricity hopped from the ceiling to the bottomless pit below them.
Marino: Well... Let's get going.
The trio began to hop from gear to gear, moving in the direction to which the gears followed.
Volt Crash Hornet: Master Gate, I was able to find research papers regarding Cyberspace. Apparently it was theorized by someone by the name of Kalinka Cossack. She theorized that Cyberspace existed ever since the first advent of computer networks, but was small. If advanced enough computer systems were made, it would expand it and even open gateways to this world.
Gate: I know how Cyberspace works Volt. All I want to know is if there are alternatives to using the Mother Elf as a power source to open the gate.
Volt Crash Hornet: Besides research papers, I also experimented with the Armageddon Metals. They seem to be able to produce a power source adequate enough to open the gateway: I tested it by forcing them via code to open a temporary gateway to Cyberspace. To do such a thing, you would need to create something bigger than you have in your lab.
Gate laughed
Gate: So I never needed the Mother Elf? All I needed were these Armageddon Metals. Well, I might as well take her and use her as a power source for the first test!
Volt Crash Hornet: Master Gate, do you think it's necessary? The Supra Force metals and Armageddon Metals are more than enough to-
Gate interrupted him with a wave of his hand
Gate: I know Volt. Let me rephrase that: Give me the Mother Elf so I can use her as a trophy of my scientific mind.
Volt nods, but before he could speak, a Kunai goes through the screen. Volt was able to move out of the way and countered by firing his cannon in the darkness. He was then tackled by Massimo who was about to chop his head off, but was subsequently tased. Massimo moved back from Volt and fell back with Cinnamon and Marino.
Volt Crash Hornet: So you think you could've got the drop on me Hunters.
Marino unsheathed her knives and raced towards Volt who merely moved backwards without moving a muscle, leaving behind after images of him. Volt fired waves of electricity at the trio, with all 3 of them dodging narrowly. Massimo charges back at Volt, transforming into his Glint Armor. Massimo takes a swing at Volt, only for him to dodge the attack, but Volt was then close lined by Massimo. Volt teleports via a portal and disappears. Multiple portals show up and he begins to shoot a concentrated beam out. The portals worked as ricocheting pieces to the beam. Massimo blocked most of the attacks while Marino picked up Cinnamon and began to dodge. Volt took advantage of the distraction of the ricocheting blasts that he teleported behind Massimo with his cannon towards his head. Massimo would've had his head blown off if it wasn't for a fireball hitting him and knocking him back.
Volt Crash Hornet: What?! You?
Fefnir appears, soaked in water with Leviathan coming out of the manhole cover.
Volt Crash Hornet: Hmm... How illogical for you to show up here.
Marino kicks Volt in the chest, making a loud crack sound from the kick. Volt stepped back and felt his chest: Marino cracked it. This angered him and he began opening portals onto the ceiling. With a beam of electricity, the portals rained lightning down. Both the Guardians and Hunters began to run around, trying to dodge the electricity. With his own distraction, Volt used it to open two portals between both Leviathan and Cinnamon. With one blast, he skewered both of them. He kicks Cinnamon away, throwing her off the edge of the platform while he leaves Leviathan there to die. Marino runs at the falling Cinnamon and catches her, with Massimo also catching both of them with his one hand and holding onto the edge with the other. Volt walked towards the struggling Massimo and his only good arm transformed into a stinger. He begins to sting his hand, trying to force Massimo to fall. Every sting hurt Massimo, he wanted to leap up and punch Volt in the face, but doing so would let go of Cinnamon and Marino. Before Volt can sting him anymore, He was punched by Fefnir's Incendiary Knuckle. The punch detonated on impact, turning Volts face into a mess. Fefnir continued to pound on Volt after he impaled Leviathan. With one more punch, Fefnir dropped Volt. Volt gurgled blood and fluids from his mouth.
Volt Crash Hornet: aew, aew asterd.
Fighting Fefnir: What's wrong mad doctor? About to die?
Volt Crash Hornet: Auk Auck Aewu!
Volt with his last breath, turned on the self-destruct of the underground base. Fefnir looked to grab Leviathan, but she was missing. Fefnir scanned the data on Volt's dead body and began to look for her.
Cinnamon: Ergh.. Alia! Teleport now!
With a word, the trio teleported back to base.
Alia: Guys are you- Oh my god! Massimo your hand!
Massimo took a glance at his hand and saw how messed up it was. Cinnamon got up and began to treat the messed up hand.
Alia: Cinnamon stop it! You have a hole through your chest!
Cinnamon: Ehh... I've dealt with worse.
Lifesaver and other medical staff came into the room to take the two to the infirmary.
Fefnir awoke with scars on his armor and he saw an awake Leviathan with a repaired chest. Fefnir ran to Levi and hugged her, causing Leviathan to yelp in pain.
Fighting Fefnir: I-I don't understand, how did you survive? How did I survive?
A woman behind him answered for him 'I followed you through the sewer system and to the area where you fought the Maverick. When I saw her injured, I hijacked both you and your sister's signals to teleport to this place.'
Fefnir turned around and saw a blonde reploid wearing seafoam armor and fishnets.
Fighting Fefnir: What's your name?
'My name is Marty.'
