The Orphan and the Widow

Chapter 4

I woke up in Wakanda, with Wanda right beside me. Bucky was a few feet away, looking around in wonder.

"I am Groot." Groot said, walking towards us. Sam appeared out of the bushes, followed by T'Challa.

The forest had become over grown with new bushes and fallen leaves.

"They did it." I said in awe. I couldn't wait to see my family again.

Suddenly, a man appeared out of a portal. I quickly gathered some energy in my palm, but Wanda rested her hand on mine.

"Strange." Wanda said. "What happened?"

"We have returned. We need to go help. Follow me." He turned back into the portal, and we followed him.

The portal opened up into a large battlefield, and more portals appeared everywhere. I followed Wanda over to the centre of our new army.

"Avengers." Cap called. He lowered his voice as Thor's hammer came into his hand. "Assemble."

We charged Thanos' army. I looked around in wonder at all the superhero's fighting together.

I spotted Cap dealing with a few aliens, and ran over to help. I quickly flew the, away, and crashed them into another few aliens.

"Cap!" I cried happily. He pulled me into a tight hug. "Where's Nat?" I scanned the field, looking for her.

"Nat... she..." he choked out the words. Dread filled my stomach. "Nat sacrificed herself to get the soul stone."

I gasped for air, unable to fill my lungs.

"I'm so sorry, Sofia." I felt tears stream down my face.

"Bella?" I asked softly.

"I assume she's back too. She and Yelena both disappeared in the snap." He said, grateful to tell me good news.

"Where's Thanos?" I said, anger finally taking hold.

"Woah woah woah. Now wait a second." Cap held me back, throwing the hammer at an oncoming monster. "You can't take on Thanos alone."

"Yes." I rolled my eyes, lifting him off the ground and placing him a few feet away. "Yes I can." I turned and ran off, towards the battle.

Overhead, the guns on the mother ship targeted us. They shot round after round, until they didn't.

They turned their guns up, and targeted something that entered the atmosphere.

A bolt of light streaked through the sky, and collided with the ship. It torn the shop in half, and it fell towards the lake. I continued my fight, before running towards a group of women.

"Who are you?" A woman with blond hair in an Ironman suit asked.

"Sofia Romanoff. Nat's..." I choked out her name. "Nat's daughter."

The woman looked at me sympathetically. "I'm Pepper. Tony's wife. Stick with us." I nodded gratefully.

We ran towards the on coming aliens and machines, and I flew up into the air to get a better view.

I moved ships out the way for the other women, and threw them to join the mother ship in the lake. I spotted Thanos, and turned and flew towards him, Wanda on my tail.

I landed in front of him, blocking him from the gauntlet.

"You took everything from me." Wanda hissed.

"From us." I tilted my head, as my eyes glowed white. "You are the reason my mother is dead."

"I don't even know who you are." He responded, preparing for battle.

"You will." Wanda said.

"убей его (kill him)" I said in Russian.

Wanda lifted chunks of rubble, and I shot energy ball after energy ball at him. I lifted a discarded spear, and dropped it on him. I repeated the action, until I managed to stab him. His look of pain made me feel even more powerful, and I threw even more chucks of rubble at him, and more energy balls.

Wanda seemed to be handling herself okay, so I glanced around, trying to locate the gauntlet. I spotted a guy in a Spider-Man suit, trying to fend off a ton of aliens.

I flew over, and removed each one, before landing beside him.

"Peter Parker." He said, and stuck out his hand. I looked at it curiously.

"Sofia Romanoff. And in fights, you normally don't shake hands." I laughed, and flew away from him, leaving him to be picked up by a girl riding a horse with wings.

I rushed back over to Wanda, and she had Thanos in the air.

"Rain fire!" Thanos yelled.

"But sire, our troops!" Someone else yelled.

"Just... do it!" Thanos struggled against Wandas power.

Suddenly, thousands of bombs rained down on us. I quickly put an energy field over me and Wanda, and waited to see what was next.

Orange circles appeared throughout the battlefield, and I felt my power grow weak. I ran with Wanda towards a circle, but a man came and formed one right beside us.

"Who are you guys?" I asked.

"Friends of Doctor Strange, if you will" He explained.

"Oh okay."

Eventually the bombing stopped, and the fight continued. I ran over to where Thanos was battling Iron Man, and I tried to help by dropping things on Thanos. Tears streamed down my face as Thanos knocked Tony down, and prepared to snap his fingers. Again.

"I am inevitable." He said, and snapped. I waited a second, braced to see people starting to disappear.

When nothing happened, I looked over and saw Tony place the stones in his glove.

"And I am... Iron Man." He snapped, and everything went white again.

When the light faded, the aliens and monsters were starting to disappear.

"You did this, Thanos. You ruined yourself, and the lives of everyone in the universe." I walked towards him. "And you still lost."

"And I still don't know who you..." he started disintegrating.

"My name is Sofia Romanoff. And I am the White Widow." I told his disappearing face.

I watched until his dust faded out of view, then turned my attention to Tony.

Peter crouched beside him, followed by Pepper. I stood by Cap, and took everything in.

Nat is gone.

Tony is gone.

The only thing I want to do is hug my sister.

I felt tears roll down my cheeks as the light turned off in Tony's suit.

Slowly, the entire team got onto one knee.

I sobbed into my hand as I thought about Nat. She died to save me. To save everyone.

And Tony just finished her goal.

I followed Cap as he stood, and lifted Tony's body into Rhodey's waiting arms. He flew off, and we walked towards the next chapter of our lives.
