What does it mean if you're just taking a walk around, and suddenly you get hit with the feeling that you miss your once-was-enemy, and you want to go visit the spot where he's stuck in a tree?
Because that's exactly what Nikolai was feeling when he decided to take a walk. Inside, he felt idiotic for missing that idiot, but also inside, he really really misses said idiot.
"I miss my Darkles." Nikolai whispers to himself. "Maybe I should go visit him." He contemplates this for a long while, before deciding, "I'm going to go see if my Darkles is okay in his tree.
And it's not even going to be a big deal. I'm just visiting a former enemy, in his prison. Yep normal. Nothing to worry about. Not gonna question why I miss him. Let's go see him!"
Nikolai skipped down the rest of the way on the mountain, till he got to his destination. The wonderful tree, where his poor, but willing Darkles was trapped.
He slowed his pace when he approached the tree, taking tentative steps, one at a time. Nikolai touched the base of the tree, smiling slightly at the overgrown plant.
Suddenly, literally all of a sudden, without even the slightest bit of a hint that it was going to happen, a voice started speaking. Safe to say, it was the scariest thing Nikolai has ever endured in his entire life, and he jumped back about three feet.
"Hi Nikolai."
Niko stood bent over, clutching his heart, and trying to regain his senses again. That deep sexy voice was the one thing he was not expecting to hear. (But the one he wanted to hear most)
"D-darkles-?" He reached out slowly, again, trying to reach his beloved.
"I'm here Niko." The Darkling said in a much softer voice, as to not scare him again. "I've been waiting for you baby" he paused. "I'm not actually stuck in the tree, I don't fucking know what's going on but I could like step out behind any time and just-"
Nikolai suddenly felt somebody press against him from behind. He spun around fast, at the same time the Darkling wrapped his arms around him, in a hug Nikolai has been craving for ages.
Nikolai sunk into the cold, dark man's embrace. He hugged his Darkles back, content.
