A Week Later...Please excuse any mistakes❤️.
It's officially been a week since Anovah started daycare and it's going surprisingly good. Of course Farah was worried, not as much as trey, though, but she trusted Renée.
Right now Trey and Farah were sitting in the front room with Novah on the carpeted floor playing with some letter and number blocks. They were trying to get her used to educational things.
"Renée said she's doing better with pronouncing basic words already. She still not talking to the other kids yet, but she'll wave to them."
"As long as she continues progressing that's cool for now. We still gotta get her to socialize with other kids, though. Lonzo can't be her only friend forever, Trey."
"She don't need friends at all, but you right."
Farah just cut her eyes at her husband. His overprotectiveness doesn't even faze her anymore.
"Come here, Peaches. Let's practice more colors, baby girl."
They had gotten her started with colors a few days after she started at the daycare. Renée noticed just how behind she actually was and suggested that they either get her a private tutor or teach her at home. She didn't like when one of her kids wasn't up to par with everything as much as everyone else so she wanted to get that done as soon as possible.
Novah stared at her mom for a while as if telling her to leave her alone with her eyes, but she eventually got up once she noticed Farah wasn't asking her again. She walked over and forced Treyton to pick her up and turned toward Farah with a huff.
"Girl boo. Let's practice these lil cards before I fight you."
Novah stared at her and attempted to roll her eyes, only blinking, before actually paying attention.
"Okay, let's count to 7 today. You wanna try that?"
"Yeah."
"Okay let's start. One..."
"Two... three... foe...fie...sith...seven."
Trey was trying hard to hold back his laughter at the way Novah pronounced some of the numbers. He knew she got it from him and that's what made it all funnier.
"I told yo' stupid self not to talk like that in front of her, Trey. Why you so hardheaded?"
"Bae it wasn't even me! I swear!"
"Shut up. Swearing is a sin. And so is lying you little bastard."
"See now! Don't be teaching her that."
"Was I talking to her, Treyton? HUH?!"
"Don't yell at me because you got a potty mouth, girl! TEACH MY BABY!"
Novah just looked back and forth at her parents. She was used to their shenanigans by now and normally payed them no attention.
"Come on, Peaches. Don't pay yo' momma no mind."
Treyton pulled out the stack of colored index cards sitting on the stand beside the couch. They didn't want her to get overwhelmed so they weren't going to try and get her to spell out the colors just yet. Instead they got different colored index cards or random objects and said the color themselves a few times before getting her to repeat them.
"Okay. First, pink. Pink. You try."
"Pink."
Okay. Green, green."
"Gween."
"Next one is white. White."
"White!"
"Last one, girl. Periwinkle. Periwinkle."
Novah and Farah just looked at him. He was cracking up and they held the straightest faces ever. He was just trying to get her riled up and Farah did not want to deal with that.
"Stop playing with my baby, boy."
"Alright. I quit. Come here, baby girl."
Farah handed her over to him and now they were going to get serious.
"They been messing with you Novah?"
She took a while to process exact what he was asking before she was able to break it down in her head. That's another thing they were teaching her to do; break down and understand completed but simple sentences. It's something she can do at her own pace when it's only the three of them and she was getting good at it pretty quickly.
Novah shook her head no and of course that's a good thing.
"Okay. Anybody being mean to you?"
"No. Them nice."
"Okay. Is Ms. Drayton nice?"
At the mention of her caregiver's name, Novah's face lit up a bit. It's safe to say that Renée and Novah had already developed a small bond and we're fond of each other.
"Nice! Her nice!"
"Okay, Peaches. I get it. She's nice."
"You like your class?"
"Yep!"
Farah was bubbling with happiness on the inside. She was happy that Novah was getting along with everyone and actually enjoying it, she just couldn't help but to notice how quickly Renée had gotten attached to her daughter. She didn't want to overthink it but she was a little worried.
"...and then mommy can make us some pecan pie."
When she tuned back into the conversation she was confused.
"What y'all talking about?"
"We getting Zaxby's! And you making pecan pie afterwards."
"Says who?!"
"Us! Lets go get our shoes, Peaches."
Farah just watched them walk off with a still confused look on her face. She didn't know how she was gonna survive with those two any longer. They're her babies though, so she dealt with it and went right after them to get the supplies for their pie.
