Two Days Later...Two days had passed since everything went down, and Treyton was mentally preparing himself for the conversation he was going to have with his wife. The last two days weren't her best, and she hasn't been herself. She hasn't interacted very much with him nor Novah. It was just depressing all around.
At the moment, Novah was in her little play room. The last two days have been hard on her as well being that she was so used to being up under her mother 24/7. Of course her two-year-old brain couldn't really process what was happening, but she surely did know when something was off; she just got a feeling.
Treyton trudged out of Novah's playroom and into the kitchen where Farah was fixing herself a glass of water. She wore a nightgown and robe with her fuzzy bunny slippers. Her hair was up in a afro wrapped with a scarf.
Treyton walked up behind her and gave her a tight hug. She really needed that. She leaned back into his embrace, which sort of shocked him, but he wouldn't complain.
"You okay, baby? Like really?"
"I'm not, but I'm trying to be. It's just...I don't know."
"Talk to me, Farah. What's on your mind?"
"Everything. I just don't get why we can never be happy. It's like the universe is out to get us, and I honestly can't take it anymore. Everything just continues to falls apart."
"I'm glad you said that. I have a serious question for you before we go any further. And please don't take this the wrong way."
"Okay. What is it?"
"Do you regret adopting baby girl? I know you're stressing because of everything that's been going on, and I don't want you to end up doing something that could hurt anyone; including yourself."
Farah had to stop and think about his question. She knew that she didn't regret adopting Novah; she was the best thing to happen to them outside of their marriage. But she did get tired of all the drama Novah's biological parents caused. She didn't like how those people wanted to end their happiness.
"No, boo. I don't regret that at all. Yes, I'm upset and frustrated with everything that's been going on, but I will not let that come between our family."
Relieved to hear that, Treyton could now focus solely on her true feelings.
"Okay. Tell me exactly what you're worried or more frustrated about."
"The fact that they're obviously watching us. And then the police department act like this is a minor problem! We're being stalked, harassed, even physically hurt and they act like it's nothing. It doesn't help that the people who are supposed to be there for YOU are apart of it. I just really want a break, Trey. That's all I want."
"I know, bae. I wish I could take away your pain and just make you forget about all the bullshit we been through dealing with them. I really am working on it. I even got restraining orders, and her parents are going to be in jail in the next couple of hours for violating theirs. We are going to get our happiness, just be a little more patient."
"I'm being as patient as I know how. The only reason I haven't said forget the whole situation is because I know Novah is involved. And I refuse to give up on her or you."
"Exactly. We're getting through this, and then you'll see just how much happiness we're destined for. NOW! Let's go see our baby girl. She's quite upset with you, woman. And grams wants you to call her."
"I know! I feel terrible for ignoring my baby like that! I have to make it up to her. And I'm going to check on my girl tonight."
"And me! I'm here too, shit!"
"And you, you big baby."
Cheesing hard, Treyton grabbed Farah's hand and guided her into Novah's playroom. Farah walked over and picked her up, giving her a big hug and kiss.
"Mommy is so sorry, Peaches. I promise I won't do it again, baby girl. Forgive me, please."
Novah just smiled at her and gave her a wet kiss. She was happy to be in her mother's arms again, and she was excited about the attention she felt coming on.
Treyton was standing in the doorway watching them; his girls. He didn't know how long it would be until they were no longer suffering, but he had a feeling it would end soon. And he was right.
