One Week Later...Not Proofread!!
Today was a long day for Treyton. He had to go in and handle a few altercations at his tattoo shop, and on top of that deal with Farah's mood swings. She was stuck in between following her gut feeling and the small faint voice in the back of her head telling her she was overreacting a little.
Treyton was constantly reminding her that it was nothing for them to switch the daycares, but she was conflicted. She didn't want to start any trouble or cause problems, she just couldn't shake the feeling. And because Trey wasn't any help, in her words, she was even a little upset with him.
"Heyyy, boss. You done for the day?"
After firing Ashley her spot was immediately refilled. Of course she was set on getting her job back, still to this day, too, but Treyton wasn't worrying about it anymore. His new receptionist, Caroline, was doing just fine.
"Nah. I'm almost done, though. You needed something?"
"Nope. You have someone waiting for you, though. She been out there for almost a hour."
"Alright. I'll be out."
Caroline just nodded and left. That was a good thing with her; she didn't ever try to make extra conversation with him and she respected his marriage.
Trey stood up and dusted himself off before making his way out to the front of the shop. When he saw who was waiting for him, he got irritated.
"What you want, Ashley?"
See! This girl is delusional.
"I came to see about getting my job back. I figured if you saw how serious I am you'd at least consider."
"Nah. You can leave, though."
"No! How you just gon' give my job away like that? Who the hell are you to do that?"
"The owner of this shop. Bye."
When Trey turned around to walk back towards his office, Ashley took the initiative of throwing her phone and hitting the back of his head.
"I WANT MY JOB BACK! YOU CAN'T JUST THROW ME AWAY BECAUSE OF YOUR WIFE!"
By now all of his artists and their clients were standing in the front area. Trey was still standing with his back to her while everyone else was either trying to figure out what happened or trying to force Ashley out of the building.
"LET ME GO! I WANT MY JOB BACK, TREYTON! NOW!"
"YOU NEED TO LEAVE! YOU NEED TO LEAVE!"
Caroline was holding the entrance door open and yelling at Ashley to leave since she was fighting anyone trying to physically put her out. It was all a big mess.
"WHO EVEN ARE YOU? I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE!"
"You okay, boss?"
"You okay, Trey?"
"You want me to call Farah?"
"You want me to call the police?"
With everything going on and his head throbbing, Treyton couldn't think straight. His head was spinning and he was still sort of in shock.
"You good, man?"
Everyone started to quiet down a little once they noticed him swaying and not speaking up.
"Im calling the police!"
Everything went black for Treyton and his body just dropped.
"Oh shit! CALL SOMEBODY!"
Ashley ran out of the building and everyone else was either trying to wake him up or call the police. Caroline made it her job to call his wife seeing as no one else was thinking about it.
__________________________________A little ways across town Farah was at home resting. Her body was once again getting used to her being pregnant, and she was absolute exhausted. Her morning sickness had gotten a little worse, but it was nothing she couldn't handle.
Jumping out of her once peaceful sleep, she frantically and blindly searched for her phone. Caroline had called her twice already and was going to continue until she got an answer.
Farah didn't even look down at the phone; she was still a little drowsy from sleep.
"Mmm. Hello?"
"Umm is this Farah? Treyton's wife?"
Now fully awake at the woman's voice, Farah looked down at her phone for a second not recognizing the number.
"Yes, this is she. Who's this?"
"This is Caroline. I'm a new receptionist at his shop. I was just letting you know that something happened and he's headed to the hospital now."
"Huh!? I'm sorry. What happened?"
"He was somewhat attacked. I just wanted to let you know because we don't know how bad anything is."
"Okay. What hospital are y'all headed to?"
"Florida Mercy. We're pulling in now."
"Thank you so much! I'm on the way!"
"No problem."
The two hung up the phone and Farah rushed out after getting ready and locking up. On the way to the hospital, the main thing on her mind was her husband and the injuries he could possibly have.
She was so focused on getting to her husband that she pressed stop on the alarm she had set so she could go get Novah from the daycare without a second thought.
