4: The restaurant

Aiko sat down on her bed and hugged a stuffed animal.
'this is dumb, what made me think I could actually get in?' I don't actually know I didn't get in! But they sure are taking their sweet time.' The teen scrolled through Instagram until a news post caught her eye.

@UAnews: thousands of kids await the letter from UA!

'WAIT... LETTER? I haven't checked my goddamn mail in weeks!' Aiko jumped up, pulled on a hoodie and ran outside. She ripped open the mailbox and peeked inside.
A Lot of bills filled it up but a larger envelope caught her eye.

It had a wax seal with UA printed on it.

'Oh shit I'm so dumb! Of course they would mail it!' She ran inside and sat at the table ripping open the letter. A small disk fell out and clicked as it landed on the table top.

Aiko tilted her head and poked at the disk.
'wh-'

"HELLO YOUNG ZHU!!"

She screamed in surprise and fell off her chair onto the dining room floor.

"I AM HERE AS A HOLOGRAM!!"

She climbed back up to see the number one hero looking back at her.

"I AM PLEASED TO SAY YOU PLACED 3RD IN THE ENTRANCE EXAMS!!!"
The hologram changed now showing a video of Aiko quickly destroying robots. She looked... fierce, dangerous... cool.

'Is that really what I look like?'

"YOU WILL BE IN CLASS ONE A AND GUESS WHAT?! I WILL ALSO HELP TEACH THIS YEAR!!! NOW YOU CAN LEARN TO GO BEYOND PLUS ULTRA!!" With that the hologram flicked out.

'Oh shit. OH SHIT.'

She jumped up with a bright smile plastered on her tan face. "I did it, I did it, I DID IT!!"

"Did what?"

Aiko heard her laughing mother say from behind her. The woman was home from work much earlier than her daughter expected. Aiko tackled her in a hug. "I DID IT MOM!!! I GOT IN!!"

"Woah! What are you talking about? Got in where?" She rubbed her daughter's back.

"UA!! Remember I took the exams and PASSED!!! I got 3RD!!"

She hugged her tight. "Honey I'm so proud of you! I knew you could do it!"

Aiko pulled back and grinned. "I didn't! I was suuuuper nervous and- wait no offense but why are you home so early?"

"Huh? Oh they accidently scheduled too many people today so I was able to go home!"
Her mother explained.

Aiko beamed. 'We can finally spend some time together!'

"How about we go out to eat! To celebrate!!" The black haired woman suggested.

Normally Aiko would decline and make food at home to save money, but maybe... just today would be fine.

The pair entered a restaurant that they went to as often as possible. Aiko ordered spicy soba like she usually does. It was only the two Zhu's and one other family in there and Aiko curiously eavesdropped on the other family.
Or rather paid attention to their very loud conversation.

"I CAN'T TAKE YOU ANYWHERE CAN I?!? I'M JUST TRYING TO DO SOMETHING NICE FOR YOU AFTER YOU GOT INTO THAT DAMN SCHOOL!! AND ALL YOU DO IS COMPLAIN!!"

"I'M NOT COMPLAINING YOU OLD HAG!! I WAS JUST SAYING THAT THE SOBA ISN'T SPICY!!! WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS SO DRAMATIC?!?!"
