"Fuck me." Ivy huffed as she smacked her forehead.
Castian sighed out through his nose and placed his knuckles on his legs as he rose to his full height. "Well. . . If you insist."
That earned Castian a very well placed blow to the base of the throat from Eliana, sending him into a choking spree.
"Again Cas. . . Not helping." Aramis frowned at the young centaur.
"I was just trying—" Castian was cut off by his own gasping for air. "—to lighten the mood." He wheezed.
Ivy fought the urge to smile at the whole situation, not wanting to make it worse.
Instead she went for a distraction method. "Do you know anyone. . . Or anything," she added, "with concealable wings?"
Aramis pondered for a moment.
"Anyone who might be able to teach me?" Ivy added, shifting her muscles that had begun to lock up. Those deep movements within her body sent a hot wave of pain through every nerve. She tried to hold back her hiss, but it wasn't enough.
Aramis' head snapped to her, almost like he had completely forgotten about all of her injuries.
"My goodness dear." Aramis rushed forward to her, his hands outstretched and ready to remedy her pain. But before his hands could touch her ailments, she held up her hand to stop him.
Eliana didn't miss how Aramis froze all movements.
Ivy didn't deserve his healing touch. She deserved every bruise, cut, and broken bone. She deserved the stabbing pain every time she took a deep breath. And she deserved the ache in her heart from so much loss.
Aramis appeared conflicted. "Please, let me at least heal your leg."
Ivy debated in her head. She wasn't sure how long it would take to heal her leg. But unless she spontaneously knew how to fly, she'd need another leg to move anywhere.
Then she looked at the sympathetic gaze of Aramis and simply bowed her head. He moved immediately and kneeled before her, his hands gently lying on her twisted leg.
She thought back to what Castian said when she woke up a few weeks ago. How shocked he was that Aramis had personally healed her. It made her wonder what was so significant about it. It seemed like most of the centaurs had healing abilities. So why was it so crazy that Aramis might use them?
Even now he seemed astounded that Aramis would kneel before her to heal her.
Ivy would have found that more concerning if she wasn't so relaxed by his healing magic. It felt like pins and needles, every fiber beneath the skin moving and repairing. Ivy didn't know how much time had passed. But she did know, when he was done, her leg felt miraculous.
Aramis backed away just enough to reach out a hand to help her up. She took it graciously and tested the weight on her new and improved leg. It was almost as if it had never been broken.
She bent over to feel the muscles and bone when a deep sharp pain stabbed at her chest.
"How long might it take to repair a few ribs?" She breathed out through gritted teeth.
"Depends on how many ribs." Aramis was being honest, with a concerned look on his face.
Ivy inhaled slowly.
"At least three."
Castian shook his head dumbfounded. "I'm even shocked you're still standing."
"You and me both." She exclaimed as Aramis began to work on her ribs.
"I'm even more surprised they didn't eat you."
