We're absolutely pretending it hasn't been a year since I last updated. Thanks and have this xx

No one was quite sure what had started it all, but everyone was sure that Steve and Bucky were at it again. Ever since Bucky had started living at the compound, it had been almost perfect. Almost. The two loved each other--platonically or otherwise, no one could truly tell; but the point was, they were attached at the hip everywhere they went. They worked well together, bounced off of each other flawlessly in conversation and missions, it was incredible. But, every now and then, they would blow up at each other. Usually, it was something small, probably due to the fact they hadn't truly been around each other in nearly 70 years. The fights would range from them not talking to each other to full-out fistfights. They'd normally end within a week when they couldn't stand being mad at each other for any longer. This time was different. It had been two and a half weeks of radio silence from the both of them. Everyone was freaked and they tried doing everything in their power to get the two of them to talk it out. Natasha had even trapped them in the training room, hoping it would spark a conversation or even a fight; she didn't care which as long as it ended the hell they were currently experiencing. It didn't. Everyone was going absolutely insane. They couldn't take it anymore and that's what led to this.
It was a Saturday, exactly 19 days since Steve and Bucky had last talked. It felt like there was a bomb about to go off and no one dared breathe in their direction. Peter was stressed to the point of never leaving his room, which only made it worse because he was the one person who could ease the tension. It had reached the point where no one even talked anymore. The negativity had thoroughly spread to every inhabitant of the tower, and Tony had enough of it.
Taking advantage of the fact it was a weekend and Peter didn't have school, Tony gathered everyone (minus Steve and Bucky) in one of the various conference rooms. Once everyone had sat down, Tony began his speech.
"Alright, like I'm sure everyone else in the room feels, I am thoroughly done with whatever argument Steve and Bucky have going on. It's time to end it. So, I've gathered some evidence to start a plan. FRI, show them the video." Tony instructed, moving to the side to allow the AI to play a video.
It was obviously from the security feeds, the high angle of the camera showed the entirety of the common room. Steve and Bucky were on one of the couches, sitting a little too close than anyone else would be. They weren't talking, but the hostile energy between them wasn't there. So it must have been from before all of this started. After a few seconds of silence, Steve spoke.
"Hey, Buck? Do you remember that night we went to the Stark expo? It was right before you left for the war." Steve said, clearly feeling nostalgic. If Peter was right, this video had to be footage from when they started fighting. Tony must have gone through the feeds to get to the root of the problem. It was a smart idea, he couldn't believe no one else had thought of it by now.
"Yeah, 'course I do. What about it?" Bucky asked, not even looking up from his phone.
"I was just thinking about that night. I miss that feeling when all we cared about was fighting for our country. Seemed easier back then. We weren't even scared of dying."
"That's not all true, though." Bucky hummed, finally moving his attention to Steve. Steve looked puzzled.
Steve adjusted his position, turning more towards Bucky on the couch. "What d'you mean?"
"I mean, I was scared of dyin'. You might've been jumpin' at a chance to join the fight but I didn't wanna leave. I didn't wanna leave you behind to die if it got too cold and I wasn't there to help you through it. I think you might've forgotten you weren't always bulletproof, Stevie." Bucky started to get defensive, and even though no one knew where this was going, they all knew whatever did happen was about to go down.
