Colonial America - December 20, 1606
"SON!" I heard someone call out from behind me. I looked up to see Great Britain with a paper in his hand, "Here!" He said handing it to me.
I looked at the paper confused, "What's this?"
Britain sighed, "It's a charter, so that you can truly be a colony!"
"Oh!" I said, though I still had no clue what he was talking about. The ship floated in. I was about to run on board before I looked back to see my father waving goodbye, and then, I couldn't help myself. I ran straight up to him and tackled him in one last tight hug before parting and saying goodbye. I knew it would be a while till I got to see him again, I just hoped it wouldn't be too long. I let a tear slide down my cheek as I boarded. I was going to miss him, that's for sure. I sighed and took one last look at the town. I let out a little smile, then walked away.
A few hours later...
The boat stirred restlessly, causing me to quickly become sea sick. The wind didn't help, in fact it was one of the biggest problems. The one thought that shot throughout my head was, 'this ships gonna flip over and sink, and then I'll be dead...'. I tried to shake this thought away, but no matter how hard I tried, it kept come back and back again. I took deep breaths. I looked around, everyone else seemed to be fine, so he shouldn't worry.
April 26, 1607
I was sitting on my bunk in the ship below deck. It's been about like, what? Four months? I've lost count at this point... The food is starting to run low. I don't know how much further we can go. I look around the empty cabin, and sigh. . . Wait . . . It wasn't empty a few minutes ago. . . Where the heck did everyone go?! They can't just disappear! "Hello?" I call out into the dark empty cabin. No response. Then all of the sudden I hear a loud:
" LAND HO!!!"
My head shot up. Like lightning hit my veins, I raced up deck only to see a beautiful chunk of land far off in the distance. Soon the cheering had begun. It has finally happened! We made it to the 'New World'!
They lowered a small rowboat for the men who were to go check to make sure it was safe. I made sure I was one of the ones on that rowboat. I was done being trapped on that stinking ship! I hopped down onto the boat and helped others board. Then sat down and helped row. After a while of rowing and my arms feeling like jelly, we finally made it to land.
We touched the land. It felt amazing, not being stuck on a vessel continuously shaking back and forth. I steadied myself and fell to my knees practically kissing the ground. I never wanted to get in another boat again. One of the other men came over and brought me to my feet. Soon enough, we were working on building houses. Of course there was one problem. . . . .
No one knew what they were doing . . .
