Colonial America - Same day
I sigh as I walk towards the entrance of the settlement. Past winters have already been hard on us and if what these colonists say about the natives are true, then we're in even bigger trouble than before. It's too bad that John Smith wasn't here. But unfortunately he had to return to England due to a injury he had received. Meaning we were on our own.
I took a look around, but didn't see anything. It was completely uninhabited. Nothing but trees. I sigh and start to turn around to head back. Before I can turn completely, I catch view of something. It was in the bushes. I cautiously approach it, when it suddenly jumps out at me! I jump back in shock landing on my bottom. I tried to aim my gun, but I still wasn't very good with it. I slowly got to my feet. More and more natives started popping up out of the trees. I catch my breath, starting to get worried. Then some other settlers start coming from around the sides to help me. We slowly and cautiously head into the settlement, not taking our eyes off the Powhatan. As soon as we were back all the way to the entrance we stopped. We weren't inside Jamestown yet, we were, frankly a bit concerned about what might happen. After staring at the natives for a bit I hear someone call out "Dad!"
It was Virginia, he continued running this way but stopped once he saw what was happening, "D-dad what's going on? Why do you all have weapons out...?"
"Virginia I need you to stay there, don't come any closer..." I told him.
"But d-dad..." He said worriedly.Just then, the natives jumped on us. We tried to fight them off.
"DAD!" I heard Virginia yell.
I jumped from place to place trying to avoid getting hit. Soon we were all push back inside the settlement. Virginia came running over to my side, I could clearly see how worried he was.
"I'm okay, I'm okay! Don't worry..." I said softly, trying to calm the colony. He only hugged me tighter. I looked towards the entrance. I had no clue what was happening. They looked like they were guarding the entrance... oh no... if they're guarding the entrance how are we supposed to leave and hunt? How are we supposed to get supplies? How do we send for help? As I thought of this I only continued to grow more and more worried. I took a deep breath and forced myself to clam down. I needed to tell someone! But the colonies leader had already set sail to England! They were completely and totally helpless in this situation. All they could do now was hope and pray, that things got better._ _
Virginia - A few months later
It's been quite a time sense we were cut off from the world. Honestly it was starting to get a bit frightening. The colony already had food problems before, this has only made them much worse. I look at my father. He hasn't eaten much. He's been giving me the majority of the food he managed to scrounge up. He's grown quite skinny from it too, much like the rest of the colonists. I've started to become concerned. I was worried about my father. After all he was the one having to deal with all of... this.
I sigh. More and more people have started to die of starvation or sickness. Just when the colony looked like it was on the right track, something came and completely obliterated it. I take a deep breath. Then hear something going on outside. I look at dad who seems to hear it as well. We look at each other and head towards the window. There was a crowd of people there. I couldn't tell what was going on.
Dad sighs and says, "Come on, let's go see what all the ruckus is about."
I nod and follow him out of the house.
