Virginia -
It had been a while sense I first met Colonial America, or at least I believe that's his name. Though he is more of a father to me. I really liked him! He was nice and fun! He was always by my side. Though it had only been a few weeks, I was already very tall and could speak surprisingly good English. I walked over to father who was watching a little dispute between the colonists.
"Hey dad! What's up?" I asked, radiating with joy as I looked up at him.
"Ah, hello Virginia!" Colonial America started, "They're just arguing over the food situation again, nothing to worry about!"
I smiled at him. He had been helping me understand how to deal with these types of things. He told me that these people were my people. That they lived on my land and were therefore my colonists. I had spent the past few days thinking about this. Thinking about the responsibility I'd be taking on. Eventually I went and accepted that it was my job to help and protect these people, these colonist, these citizens."Speaking of food, how's the current situation?" I asked, trying to sound responsible.
"Well, it's never been good, and the droughts that have been happening haven't been making it any better..." Father told me, his voice gentle yet his face showing the severity of the situation. He sighed and continued, "But, don't worry. I'm sure something will come up and solve everything! It always does..."I smiled. He always knew how to make any situation, no matter how hopeless it seem like it could be fixed. I hugged him. He hugged back. We stayed like that for a few minutes, until one of the men came up to father and asked to talk with him. He then got up, patted me on the head and walked off. I then got up and decided to walk around the settlement. I passed house after house, only now realizing that I never really explored and got to see all of the settlement. It was totally new to me. Then again the colonists were constantly building new homes for the other settlers. After walking for a while I reach a big house. It was bigger than the others. It was still under construction, and probably wouldn't be finished anytime soon judging from it's size, but somehow, deep down, I knew that it would be used for something important. What that important thing was, I could not say. All I knew is that it would make a big impact.
I continued walking through the settlement when I overheard two kids talking.
"Did you hear about the food shortage?" One kid asked.
"Yeah, my mothers been talking about it nonstop, and my dads been out hunting..." Another kid said.
All the kids gasped.
"I-is he alright?!" The first kid asked, filled with worry. I was unsure why he seemed so worried, all the other kid said was that his father was a hunter.
"I wish I knew... me and more have been worried sick with all the word of theses Indian attacks..." The other kid responded, bowing his head.
'Indian attacks...' I silently said to myself, "Does dad know of this? And if he does, why hasn't he told me?!'As I think about this and what all I've heard, I start to turn and head back to the house me and father are staying at when a sudden thought passes my head. What if the whole time fathers been hiding other thing like this. I mean there's always the possibility that he thought it was unnecessary information or perhaps didn't even know himself. Though the last part seemed highly unlikely seeing how he is informed of most of everything that happens here. I sigh as I push back these thoughts and continue my way home...
